Yea. So. Seperate the person from the fiction. Hard to do when the person tends to have, like, one or two ways of speaking. The first is to talk down to everyone, accusing them of being teenieboppers who don't understand---and couldn't--the greatness that is Old Comics. Doesn't have to even be some standard age. Just as long as it isn't what is being written and talked about now.
The second way is to pop into chat occasionally, and do nothing but say, "I just posted the next chapter of ABC." "I'm thinking of not writing more ABC, no one seems to like it." or "Have you read my story ABC?"
Oh, wait. Forgot the third, which is to whine about feedback (lacks) and state that it's because uninformed people read and write, and therefore, if they read and write what you did.... Etc, etc, etc.
This happens. A LOT.
And, y'know, the first year we did the Holiday FFic Project, I went around and read every single story. I made a huge fricking feedback thing, and sent it to OTL. Of those, gods, 30? stories/authors, I got exactly two responses, if I recall. Oddly, my brain is inserting that one was DarkMark. I'm going to agree with it. The second was Ramiel, who actually got the long damned thing FWD'd to him, since he wasn't on OTL.
I, myself, wrote four of the fics that year (which explains not writing any the last two. I've still got one more year to futz around and not do anything). Not a single person feedbacked me on them. Oh, I've gotten stuff since. Mainly on the pieces on Luba's, or ff'net.
Lost my train of thought, I think.
I do remember DM's. It was easy to read and fairly fluent and etc. And, hey. He's a good writer.
Yes, he's human. Actually, Times had a good point. If people like his fic enough to vote/nominate it, why the hell don't they feedback? I'm not fond of the 'I didn't hate this' shit, but even that ought to satisfy him.
Why am I spending so much time on this. I don't know. Anyway. I'm off to practice my insulting techniques.
