Oh I don't mind at all! It is very interesting to read, since I know so little about it. I have read Nick Hornby's "Fever Pitch" and I saw the movie, so I have heard of Arsenal and Man Utd, but not Chelsea or any of the other team names I don't think.

I do totally understand what you are saying about how MUCH football is cared about. I think that's why we joked around saying Beckham in the first place-someone everyone who followed the sport or maybe even didn't much at all-would have heard of and recognize at first sight, because that is how famous we want Sam to be for the purposes of the story. Tiger Woods would be another example I can think of that would perhaps work, famous world wide.

I live in a fairly large city with a pro (American) football team that is pretty good. The whole town has "Red Fridays" from Sept to Jan-during the season-and seriously at least 75 percent of the people you see anywhere you go are wearing Chiefs clothing or at least red. On Sunday afternoons when they are playing the whole town just goes dead, because everyone is either at the stadium or at home watching on TV. My dad has been a season ticket holder for years and years and going to the games is very fun.

Actually, I just thought they say that our stadium is the loudest of any in the NFL when they measure the noise level. They always say that at the start, "Welcome to Arrowhead! The loudest stadium in the NFL!" and the crowd just goes beserk. I think it is something like 80,000 people packed in there and it is deafening. I have screamed myself hoarse and at the same time, I can't even hear myself.

However, at the moment, I could hardly name any of our players, because they get traded and move around a lot or so it seems to me when I listen to my dad talking about it. There's only a few that would be totally famous nationwide, I think, more they are known in their cities and divisions.

The most famous player ever in my city would probably be George Brett, who was sort of the leader of our baseball team when they last won the World Series. He is in the Hall of Fame and has a resturant in the trendy part of town and gets recognized everywhere he goes at least ten years after he retired. I have no idea if he gets that sort of reaction in other places though.

I'm toally going to look up some information on Terry now, because he does sound like a good fit. Don't worry though, we aren't trying to write Anders AS a football player, so we won't butcher the details. He's just the most famous Pyramid player or even just person from before the attacks on New Caprica.

I have no idea if his team was supposed to be really good or not. I think Kara says they sucked and Helo said they were good. So, she might have just been mocking Sam in the initial meeting. Yeah, he is the captain and she tested him on the score of a game to prove they were human. I believe the outcome was changed on a call or instant replay time thing. Lyssie would probably know for sure!
