Kara had wandered outside to get away from Lee, Dualla, and their planning sessions. She really didn't have much to contribute, anyway. Thinking outside the box wasn't something they really had the luxury for. Besides, she needed the air.
Reaching a small alcove between two of the erected buildings, Kara slipped into the shade and sighed as she leaned against the rock wall that formed part of the structures.
A footstep made her eyes open. "Sam." Of course it would be him. He probably wanted to talk, to continue the conversation from earlier. Kara straightened, trying to think of a way to put him off--she couldn't deal with this. Not now.
But he didn't say a word as he closed the distance between them.
He stopped, close enough to touch. Close enough Kara could hear him breathing. His eyes were dark as he looked down at her.
Kara had the sudden memory of grabbing him when she stepped between him and Lee. Her hands at his waist and she'd felt the shiver that slid through him. One slid through her now. "Sam..."
His mouth silenced her.
No talking. She could do no talking. She, Kara Thrace, was really frakking good at no talking. And Sam knew how to kiss her, knew exactly how much pressure to bring to bear against her lips. He teased them open with his tongue and then nipped at her lower lip, sucking at it when she moaned softly.
He did nothing but kiss her for several minutes, but it was more than enough to revive the ache Lee had caused earlier. Though if Kara were honest, Sam aroused her faster. She blamed his experience with her responses.
Plus, Lee had pretty much left her high and, if not dry, then unsatisfied.
He was such a gods-damned tease.
Sam abruptly moved, pressing her against the wall and sliding a leg between hers. Responding, Kara arched, stretching against him and moaning softly. She could feel him through their layers of clothes. Her flight suit and his pants, and she was suddenly irritated at them. Then Sam caught her and lifted her slightly. Just enough that gravity pushed her against his thigh even harder.
A moan escaped her, and she rocked against him, almost grinding against his leg with the need to have him touching her more. "Sam."
His hands shifted into her hair, fingers holding her for a deep kiss that seared her all the way down to her boots. Then he abruptly released her and backed away.
Bereft of his body, Kara sagged against the wall. "Sam?"
His voice was ragged when replied, and she had to take comfort in that. His words certainly didn't help, "You can't have both of us, Kara."
Without waiting for a reply, he turned and left.
Kara cursed and leaned her head back against the wall, body still tingling with arousal and the need for sex. Damn him.
Frakking damn him.
"Captain."
Dee.
Kara opened her eyes. "Yes?"
"Time for our briefing. If you'll follow me." And Dee turned without waiting for her acknowledgment.
As if she knew Kara had to follow. And, bitterly, Kara knew that she did if she wanted to get off the frakking planet.

Also, good job presenting Kara's total lack of self-analysis while writing from her pov. That is a total parlor trick of storytelling!

That's the thing. Kara doesn't do self-analysis. She shoves it all in a box and pretends like HELL that everything's ok. That's why she's veering so far from Sam--he won't let her get away with that.
