Because I am lazy, and it is late, and Kara and Anders aren't talking to me. This is potentially spoilery for 'Unfinished Business'. But it's mostly speculation on my part.
Sam is staring at her through the ropes. He's not saying a damned thing, but it doesn't matter. Even after what she said, there's still fear for her in his eyes.
She doesn't deserve him. Why can't he understand that?
He needs a woman who will love him completely, a woman who isn't fucked up and broken. A woman who will wake up in the morning and be glad she's curled against his side.
And he doesn't seem to know it. He doesn't know what the frak is good for him, and Kara can't help but follow the pull he exerts on her.
There are hundreds of people around them, and Lee is being declared the winner as she stares at Sam. And she's the only thing he sees. It's scary, the focus he has on her. It frightens her that she could reach out and hold onto him and he might never let her go.
"Kara." His arm stretches through the ropes, eyes calm as he looks at her.
She could take his hand if she wasn't wearing gloves. She could take his hand and tell him she loved him (except Starbuck doesn't do love), and that maybe there was still something there.
And it would be hard. Without New Caprica, and things to do every day--a colony to create and maintain, they would have to deal with each other.
Kara shoved her elbows down, wincing as her body protested its treatment and pushed herself up onto her knees.
It wasn't easy to move those few feet to the side of the ring. Halfway there, Sam's hand closed on her wrist, but she shook her head and continued under her own power. At the ropes, she weighed her options and then dropped flat again and looked at him. "Little help, here?"
Moving slowly, he ducked under the rope and she wrapped her arms around his neck while he grabbed her waist and pulled.
The dust and dirt of the ring scraped against her skin and then she was swinging free. Tightening her hold on Sam, she buried her face in his neck.
"Oof." He clamped her against him and didn't complain about her being heavy.
Kara couldn't touch the floor even with tiptoes, but decided it didn't matter.
They might have stayed like that forever if Cally hadn't bumped into them, "Captain, you might want to get your injuries taken care of."

But that's not why I'm commenting. I'm commenting to say that you win. I haven't told you that in about a week, but you do. PIRATES! YES. WIN.

I... have a list of predictions about UB. I'm pretty sure my version isn't going to happen, sadly.
However. That is what fic is for. Mwah.

I would be all gracious about Kara/Lee, but, really, it's all about the Kara/Anders for me. Possibly because he's tall. And hot. And kind of rock-steady, the way I like my guys (see also my crush on D'Argo).
I'm pretty sure this is going to end up as a scene in the unfinished season 3 spec fic (with added angst). Mostly because I've already got the scenes (well, most of them) I wanted in it, and this would pull more in. So. Yes.

What really sealed it for me was when he found her unconcious in Exodus Part 2. I love that scene :)
Btw... Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
