Solid episode.

Hrm.

The Good:

1. Tigh has an Ellen in his head. HAHAHAHAH.
2. Helo called Lee 'Slim'. There's the final proof for Lee being Scott 'Slim' Summers. *snicker*
3. Kara hair-cutting, Kara being angry, Kat smacking her down.
4. Kat. I need to give her some porn now.
5. DAD. Dad throwing the gun on the table and. just. OMG. DAD. THAT IS THE WILY BASTARD WHO HAS KEPT YOU ALIVE AND WILL CONTINUE DOING SO. YOU DO NOT PISS HIM OFF.
6. Dad dumping Kara out of her chair. How much do I love this man?
7. Crouton! So cute. So rejected.
8. Helo. Mmmm. Still the XO! YAYAYAYAY!
9. ATHENA. So cliche, and yet so perfect. AND OMG. *happy* Lt. Agathon! It's still the best, man.
10. Gaius. I have a long, drawn-out essay type thing I want to write about why Gaius and Kara are cylons, but that can wait. Gaius is back, baby. He's back, and he's a little broken. Ok, a lot broken. And, and, I just loved him in this episode, and I remember how much I used to hate him AND DAMNIT.
11. Brunette!Six making Gaius kill her. Srsly. Anyone who thought she wasn't trying to goad him into that was, well... Although. Um. Hi, Gina.
12. All of the banter and playing in the pilots' room. OMGYAY.

The meh:
1. Hi, Shadow Ships. Nice to see Babylon Five is remembered.
2. Um. virus. um. cliffhanger. *yawn*
3. Earth. NO REALLY ARE YOU SAYING THE CYLONS HAVE WANTED IT ALL ALONG WE DID NOT KNOW THAT.

The Bad:

Hello, reset button. I really didn't miss you, although this does make me wonder if every time the crew ends up on a planet they're going to have internal strife that MYSTERIOUSLY GOES AWAY. 'Cause the Lee and Kara tension? Yeah. Didn't see it. Dad getting pissed? Was done and... I'm sure next week, it won't even be there anymore. And Kara's angst? Pretty much gone.

The reset button, btw, is why Anders was got rid of.

Can't have something pesky like a dysfunctional marriage around--certainly can't do anything ground-breaking like actually keeping said marriage on the screen. God knows we wouldn't want to disappoint the fanboys into thinking Kara is taken. Especially not when you're trying to have Kara and Dad and Lee as family.

No Dee. I'm sadddened, as I'm pretty sure Lee went to find her and said, "I was just flying. I'm kind of full of adrenaline. Sex?" and then there was really hot and pretty porn. Possibly against a wall.

Just a final note to all of you who are going to squee about 'pilots'. When I think of pilots, I think of Sam Carter/Kara Thrace.

It's just a pity it won't ever be on my screen.

I... am all flaily about this. I know from at least one promo pic somewhere and podcast info that he's supposed to be around. But my gut instinct (the same one that last week told me they'd break them up in the episode... and they did so) says they're never going to bother with it again.

But Anders would still be nice to see. Even if Kacey's mom is the one he ends up with.

Yes! Also, Anders and Kat would be good. Because it would be good and pretty for Anders and also feed the altar of Starbuck's angst that Ron Moore is so damn fond of witout killing him.

The cast ist very emo-ish. The whole show is. My brain does not do well with emo-ish things. Butbutbut there is space and there used to be Anders, so it was okay.

Gaius can't be a Cylon, because the other Cylons constantly refer to him as a human, even when he's not in their presence (see "Downloaded."). And Kara Thrace can't be a Cylon, because the Cylons tried to use her in a hybrid breeding program. Leoben constantly referred to her as a human.

So if you think you can explain those things away...
