If you Were the Only Boy in the World and I Were the Only Girl...
by ALC Punk!
He's only gone for a minute--Jean grabbing him, looking so relieved that he just has to hug her. And by the time he looks back, things have changed. The kid is gone, the Chief is gone, and Kara is just standing there. She looks worse than after the farm--there, she had anger. Here, he's not so sure what she has.
Four months.
Those bastards had his wife for four months, and he couldn't do a damned thing about it.
For a moment, the guilt twists as deep as the knife she used on the cylon. Then he bottles it, like he bottled the worry, bottled the rage that made him want to run through the city and kill cylons indiscriminantly. People needed him then, Kara needs him now.
Sam moves towards her, ignoring the crowds and cheers. Just before he gets to her, she looks up.
"Hey." He stops, awkward and worried that the frantic kiss so full of glee in that dark hallway was just reaction. Adrenaline.
"Hey."
Carefully, he reaches out and brushes a thumb over her cheek. Her eyes close a moment, and then they're both moving. Less than a second, and they're pressed against each other. Sam's pretty sure he's not the only one shaking, but he's not going to say a damned thing about it. He's just going to hold his wife, bury his face in the side of her neck and be glad she's alive.
"Um..."
And he's not going to push. He watched Helo with her, and a year of being married to her has given him more than enough insight. "Hey." His lips brush her skin, "You don't have to explain, ok? I'm just glad you're alive."
"Sam."
He pulls back until he can look her in the eye, "I love you."
"Yeah." Her eyes dart to the side, and she leans into him again.
This time, the kiss is anything but frantic and gleeful. It's real and full of things neither wants to have to say.
Sam imprints it in his memory, uses it as a shield against the pain and anguish of four months without knowing. He doesn't know what the next minute will bring, but he knows he still loves the woman in his arms.

This makes me happier.
And I... I just don't know what's going to happen--I mean, I'm sure it's going to be Angsty. sigh.

(Someday, I'll post something more than that on your posts, but not tonight. So sleepy.)

I hate how some people say he didn't look for her! We saw him talk about her several times and say that he couldn't find any trace of her. Clearly he was afraid she was dead and hadn't given up hope, since he put himself in charge of setting free the people in detention.I'm all ready so sad for Kara with all that she's been through!
She looks worse than after the farm--there, she had anger. Here, he's not so sure what she has.
This was my favorite line-I like how it shows he really is paying attention to her and sees she's empty inside.
Also, I'd friended you this summer when I discovered BSG, so hello! *waves*

This fandom baffles me. They went on for months and months about how, "OMG. He's just Kara's sextoy! She'll get over him!" and now it's "Obviously, he really doesn't love her because he didn't spend every scene angsting and whining and drinking himself to death while she was gone." Which, um, no. That's not the man who was on Caprica, bombing cylons to get them to go away.
Back to the previous bit, because I've just had a thought--if they were trying to say that Sam heard the entire Leoben seen, then, yes, that would make him uncertain and wacked enough to wander off. But from the framing of Sam showing up at the cell, I don't think so. I don't think he heard Kara's "I love you"s, so I don't think he's pissed about it. (it is, however, sick and twisted fic fodder)
Hi! I'm really bad at noticing things like that, unfortunately. Plus, um, lots of crazy, here.

Oh, like the thing with Dee dragging Lee out of the CIC and I did not mean for that to rhyme, I am so sorry. Yeah. Um. Relationship subtlety? Not a super popular commodity in the fandom, I'm thinking.

Sam is not Ellen, however.no subject
Fandom is always strange! LOL
I don't think Sam saw/heard the I love yous. However, I hope that he will put things together from the various clues he saw-Kara saying to him Kacey was her daughter and going back for her, seeing the home set up of the cell, Leoben dead in the cell, and figure out that more than being held in detention was happening to her. I'm sure Kara will repress and not want to talk about things, and I hope he gets a change to help her/push her to talk. However, since the show always goes for angst, I doubt that will happen.
Sick and twisted fic idea indeed! But I agree that it would be very fun to read, so write away, please! I'm sure if not Sam, other people would suspect her of being a willing prisoner/concubine since her living conditions were so good, etc. I could see that being Kara's worse nightmare homecoming, when she resisted for so long!
No worries-and nice to finally talk. I think I shall have to go and work more on my own story since I keep thinking about BSG myself! Thanks for the discussion, btw.

Ohh I wanted to pass along this fic I thought you may like. Nice K/Leoben and K/Sam, but with Kacey thrown in.

And this one was excellent K/Leoben

Oooh. I tend to avoid ff'net like the plague (plus, it's depressing to see crappy fic get so many reviews). But will poke at these.

Friended you for the Anders/Kara safe place, and other BSG things. And cuz I figured out you're the same person from Ye Olde Comics Group O Doom. I iz kinda slow. :)

Auugh. Now I want to go trolling back to figure out when I fell in love with Sam for himself and not because he wasn't Lee Adama. Also, I think I have old Sam meta I should poke at. Yes. *ponders*
Hee. Watch out for the crazy, though. ;)

crazy's ok. I like crazy. :)

...damn. I should go to bed instead of ramble about BSG. arg.

You must be east of me. Everybody is. *sigh*

Heh. There are lots of people east and west of me. I just wish I didn't have to go to work now.

I'm sure you're right, that he'd be very confused and angry at first (who wouldn't be?). But I think the fact that she killed L right after would make the 'I love you' a lie, and given time, he might realize that. He might not, I agree, but it could help him to guess some of the psychological pressure she was under those months. As it stands though, unless she tells him about how Leoben was trying to break her, there's not much for Sam to go on.
Write it! I'll read it. :)
