Thing is, I'm not sure Sam would be so understanding. I'm not sure how he'd react to seeing his wife tell a cylon she loved it, then knifing it. Maybe he'd understand, maybe he'd just be hurt and angry that she can tell this thing that she loves it, but not him (at least, not from what we've seen).
