SFF: Well, it's Saturday Edition

BSG: Missed the first showing, taped Comedy Central instead of it at the second, and that third showing was a repeat of... Occupation. Squinty-vision, to the rescue.

It was a good, solid episode. Setting up more plot threads and tangling others, and outing Ellen. Which I expected. It's nice to see that when you do things for love, it bites you in the ass.

Sharon and Sam together was an interesting conversation, and I kind of love that he's so smart and kick-ass. This simply adds to the thought that he can keep up with Kara. He's not a stupid man, by any means.

The beer bottle was a nice touch, during Sharon's Walk of Doom.

AHAHAHAHAH.

"The last thing your son wants is me and Ellen for parents."

YES. Another chick marine sergeant. *smug* And she's smart, too.

Ok. That scene in the hangar deck, with the hugging and the line of sand? That is why I love this show.

Sharon. Yes. Yes. THAT was the kind of thing I needed. the faith, the "Adama wouldn't lie to me." Which is true.

Hah. And I'm back to Sharon. Grace Park really has got Sharon down nicely, and I really enjoyed her these last several episodes. But most especially when she shot cylon!Xena in the legs. YES.

And Sharon refusing to take her tags off. And Sam kind of getting it, 'cause he never took off Kara's. AND SAM ASKING HER to look for Starbuck.

Which, er, she might have.

Kara. Um... ok, then. (my fic is still canon) But this whole, "Look! I'm Domestic!" is kind of disturbing and wrong.

Chief, it should be noted, borrowed Sam's razor. He's much smoother now. And he tackled Cally.

ALSO. Seelix and the Cavil. And Seelix and the guns. And, and, the whole rescue in that canyon--one wonders what happened with the rest of the people to be executed.

Zarek and Roslin? FANFIC ON MY SCREEN. I kind of can't believe I wanted Zarek to die.

The baby subplot is annoying.

Can I remember the name of the female marine sergeant? No. But I can note that Racetrack and Kat were in the rec room together. If there is not femslash from that, I will be sad.

I'd also like to note, as alway, the large percentage of Women Doing Shit in this show. It out-weighs the Stargates massively. NCIS and one or two others are similar.

All in all, good episode. Not brilliant and NOT requiring of mockery.

Ask Starbuck...

Actually, I really don't think he knows about Hera. It would be the perfect wedge to screw with him and Roslin. Sharon will still think he did know, and Roslin won't disabuse her of that notion, and Adama will be irate and angry that she didn't tell him and it's now ruined the whole situation.

After all, this IS BSG.

Roslin made it a point that Adama shouldn't know, remember?

*blinks* I was happy yesterday. We just had a guest over, and thus, I couldn't do much online--or watch it as it aired.

Can I remember the name of the female marine sergeant?

'Gunny'. Apparently. I guess a female one kinda evens it out after the guy one in Sacrifice. Or he had a hell of a sex change.

Everyone knows Kat and Racetrack had been femslashing it up in the rec room. The whole tapping/finger clicking thing was probably just them getting annoyed at each other cos Racetrack came one time more than Kat. I have a feeling Kat's probably pissy about not getting her fair share.

And Dude! Duuuude! Isn't Seelix just the gayest character in BSG? She has a total Kate Moennig type thing going on with the hot short hair. And that voice! Almost makes me wanna record it onto my MP3 player. Not that I'm that sad. But if I was, I would.

'Gunny' is an informal abbreviation for a Gunnery Sergeant. At least in the US Marine Corp anyway, but the Colonial Marine Corp seems modelled on the USMC so.. :)

What Agent D said, plus, the Brits use it, too (at least in Red Cap).

ALSO. Why have you not written Kat/Racetrack? Or has this happened, and I've just missed it?

And I have seasons one and two of BSG on audio tape for listening purposes.

[identity profile] bsgnightsky.livejournal.com 2006-10-15 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
See, I'm too stupid to know that. Which is kinda bad since my military-type friend has tried explaining the Gunny thing to me too. And after three years of the rpg, I should really have picked something up. Huh.

As for writing *le sigh* I don't do writing now. I'm sparing everyone the torture of it. (If I ever got my hands on femslash, dear gods, you would all stone me to death.)

Audio tapes - You. Nerd. But a cool nerd. :D

Aw, that's ok. I only know it 'cause I was insane and watched Red Cap far too many times, and thus went all geekily amused when Kara called Burrell 'Gunny' in Sacrifice.

Ahh. Pity. I may steal the scenario, though. ;)

Yes! And it's even better, because my tape player will speed up, and thus, I get Chipmunk!BSG, which is the fucking funniest thing EVER.

*facepalm* Oh, you mean Bernice Summerfield. Didn't catch her name, so I mentally thought of her as "Benny". I spent the rest of the episode looking for the Doctor and deciding that Gunny was Ace in disguise.

Seelix is the one who told Brother Cavil she hoped it took him a long time to die, and nudged the gun away from his hands.

Re: Brainwashed Kara

[identity profile] kkglinka.livejournal.com 2006-10-16 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Kara is being systematically brainwashed by a specialist in the field. It's painful to watch, but yes, that's how it happens. I wouldn't be surprised if Prophet!Cylon dropped Casey on her head, on purpose, after waiting for Kara to hide. I doubt the Cylons would risk a true hybrid on this conversion/test anyway - it's too high on their list of miracles. The baby method works because after months of isolation, a highly social person like Kara would be desperate for someone to trust/socialize with. She knows her behavior is irrational, but it's a coping method and her brain will force her to use it. Our brains can be ruthless like that... which is the basis for all brainwashing techniques like stockholm syndrome.
