Oh, feminism, thou art no where NEAR the office I work in. Did you know that female cops are wrong? Because, obviously, being a police officer is a MAN'S JOB. *cries*

Srsly. I could have probably gotten myself fired for the words that went through my head when the stupid bitch said that.

And trying to point out that female cops have to be twice as good as the guys to get accepted didn't do a damned bit of good. "Well, they're not physically designed for it." Well, fuck you.

Two. I'm really fucking sick of seeing "SG-1 has gone downhill, it's a good thing it's ending now." Yes, season eight was shitty. But seasons nine and ten have been on par with six and seven. And, honestly? The less Jack and Daniel, the better, for me.

Which, translated, means: I prefer seasons nine and ten to the entire FIRST FIVE YEARS. So fuck off about how it sucks now.

eta:

Please stop telling me how much better and fresher Atlantis is. It isn't. It's the same recycled and tired old plots, and even worse, utterly SHITTY bad guys and pointless enemies.

Seriously. You know the last two Atlantis episodes? They were Instinct and Conversion AGAIN, but with Liz and the Replicators instead of Shep and the Wraith.

I honestly don't care EITHER way what happens. Unless they don't give me my Sam Carter action figure, in which case, there will be HATE MAIL. But I'm fucking sick of "don't ruin Atlantis with the SG-1 albatross!" commentary.

Eck. I do like Atlantis, a lot, but I'm sorry... there's no WAY that SGA will ever be half as good as SG-1 was in its prime. Also, it will be lucky to last half as long. So word, my dear. Word.

Except I like to objectify Jack and Daniel anyway.

I find most individual episodes of SG1 and SGA to be good, solid, entertaining bits of storytelling and it bemuses me when anyone expresses dissatisfaction with them, it really does. Except maybe the clip shows, maybe.

(200 counts as a clip show, I think, even though the clips were shot for it.)

As for the cancellation ... well, I feel rather like I did in the 90s when I was compelled to write to some Doctor Who fans, "Imagine if you were a Star Trek [TOS] fan, or a Lois & Clark fan, or a Forever Knight fan, or a seaQuest DSV fan, and you heard someone complaining that their program had been canceled after a mere quarter of a century and some 300 hours of screen time."

And, honestly? The less Jack and Daniel, the better, for me.

I thought it was just me! Yes, I agree 1000%. There's a reason why S6 is my favorite season of SG-1 EVER.

I'm just glad that both shows didn't get canceled.

Lyyyssssiiie, I thought of you when I posted this on s_d - the image at the bottom. (http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/2292060.html)

The less Jack and Daniel, the better, for me.

Interestingly enough, I hated the entire first half of season 9 because a) I was suffering from Daniel overload and b) it took me forever to get used to Vala.

One of the really good things about Jack was that he'd always been the one dividing onscreen attention with Daniel. When he went kaput, Daniel got back at being the only, undisputed lead guy. For awhile there in S9? I seriously considered dropping the show.

Atlantis plays it kinda safe for me. Not that SG-1 was ever that much edgier, but then, Atlantis is populated with relatively well-adjusted folks and not those who:

1) Lost their son and tried to kill themselves on another planet
2) Got their wife taken over by an oppressive alien race
3) Were enslaved to an oppressive alien race
4) wore their reproductive organs on the inside rather than the outside and had to fight their way up the military hierarchy despite their freaky genius.

And this was SG-1 in their FIRST EPISODE. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THIS SHOW??!?!?

This is a dicey issue-I consider myself to be a something of a feminist, but I'll agree that the majority of women were not cut out to do some professions, like firefighter. Maybe some aspects of the job are fine for them, but if I'm in a burning building, I don't want a woman who is 5'2 dragging me out by my hair (but if the woman is 6'3 and built like a brick house-fine). But, if we're talking about Medic or Trainer or Fire Investigator, then there's no problem at all.

Same goes for Cops- if were talking about tackling a 300 lb suspect, maybe this is something best left to men who are 6'3, but if we're talking about detective or something like that that's not dependent upon physical size or such, then women should be allowed and such.

What exactly was your co-worker talking about? Everything, or just something in general?

Daniel Jackson is my least favorite character-he's okay when he has other characters to balance him out, but if it focuses on him, then yes, it's a bad thing.

Apparently, she was pulled over for speeding by a female cop. And, it stood for all cops.

Well, your co-worker isn't designed to have her head up her ass, but that's working out pretty well for her.
