More BECAUSE I CARE moments...
Although, it is winding down. And I'm ignoring the side-discussion about whether RDA is old and fat. Also, this contains Teh List's reaction to the Cancellation of Doom.

I said that in my opinion, 200 was a dud, and I stand by that. It had
its moments, but all in all, even as a humorous piece it fell flat. The
framing sequence had me cringing, especially Vala's lines. They've
turned her into a complete clown and this episode only underlined that.
We know Jack uses humor to deflect attention away from parts of his past
that he'd rather not think about. I think Vala is using her clownish
persona the same way, to keep people from getting too close and drawing
attention to everything she's been through in her life. At least I hope
so, because the alternative is that she really is a shallow,
self-centered little jerk who has no business going offworld with an
SG-team. (The writers should take another look at Rodney McKay for an
example of giving a shallow, self-centered jerk some depth to his
character, so that it's reasonable for him to be doing what he's
doing.) Claudia Black can act, people, give the woman something to work
with.
The joke they played on Cam was out of character too. You don't
undercut group solidarity with a mean-spirited prank like that when
these are the same people you're going to have to depend on to save your
life next week. And I'm not talking about suggesting that Jack might be
Cam's daddy--Cam would never take that part seriously because as many
medical tests as they run on SG teams, a DNA test would have brought
that skeleton out of the closet with a resounding crash a long time
ago. I'm referring to the part where they suggested that someone helped
his career along. You do not undercut somebody's confidence like that,
for no good reason other than a few yucks--unless they're trying to get
the man killed. He is already having issues about a chain of command
that isn't clear-cut. Add to that the suggestion that his teammates
think he got where he is because somebody greased the skids, and that's
a recipe for disaster. They're out there on their own. They each need
to know that the rest of the team has complete confidence in them. If
Cam still doesn't have that confidence after over a year, then maybe
he's right to question his position on the team with General Landry.
When Jack was there, we KNEW nobody would be left behind. We even knew
that season six with Jonas Quinn. Did Jack take that certainty with him
when the old SG-1 busted up?
And speaking of the general, I like Landry but the writers have had him
all over the map. Uninvited did help (with Cam as well) but here in 200
they apparently had him written by committee again. We know Hammond
when he walks into the room--even if he is a puppet and even if he is
doing a parody of himself! Let's give Bridges the same room to develop
a character.
RDA's appearances, or disappearances, were absolutely the highlight of
the show. He does comedy the way comedy should be done and everyone
else involved with 200 should have taken notes. You can be hilariously
funny without hitting the audience over the head with a baseball bat. I
loved the "invisible colonel" sequence, especially the shower scene.
That "nope" was hands down the funniest part of the entire show. I also
caught the look between Sam and Jack right after the wedding skit.
Something is definitely in the wind there. :)
I wasn't ranting about Amanda, so don't put words in my mouth. But now
that you ask me personally about it, I don't think she's doing the show
or herself any good with this continual on-and-on about the Pete thing.
It's in the past, and her actions are starting to look unprofessional.
The romance storylines were always secondary to whatever else was going
on. She said she didn't want to be Jack's girl but all this
concentration on it on her part has the potential of turning her into
just that--either Jack or Pete's sidekick. Any wonder her character is
getting less screen time now that they're both gone? IMHO she needs to
wake up and smell the coffee and concentrate on what her role is now,
and be a little more positive. If we were hearing more from her about
Sam's aspirations as a scientest or whether or not she sees stars on her
shoulders a few years down the road, then that's the kind of thing we'd
start seeing on screen. Why is she in this weird chain of command thing
with Cam? Has to be because she has a lot of responsibility in the labs
and maybe at Area 51 as well, that's the only thing that makes sense.
OK, she should be pushing for us to see that. Yeah, the person asked
her about who was the better kisser--so what? Answer politely without
singling anyone out, and then move the discussion on to more timely
topics. I think if we can get more Sam stories and more Sam screen
time, then we might just accidentally get more Sam and Jack subplots.
And that IS what this list is about--check the subject line if you don't
believe me.

Indeed...the thought struck that TPTB managed to do to the fanbase exactly
what was supposed to happening to SG-1...:-).....Here we all are providing
inputs and comments about a show..that was about a show ...you get the
idea...;-)
Looked at it that way...this has to rank as one of the most successfull
episodes in a long time...
This has got to be a joke, why would they cancel it after six episode, some
thing not right here
=-
Maybe it will give them time to rewrite the final episodes and provide closure
(and a real S/J Wedding).
(I had to put it in bold italics, 'cause the BATSHIT IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE)

Hey all,
If you read the fine lines that the below article shows that NBC U did not
inform Metro-Golden-Myer that they were planning to pull the plug until after
the 200th episode.
This is the way the game is played people. Which I for one cannot stand
games. (Playing with peoples heads or saying one thing and doing another).
If you look at all the other shows that the NBC network itself has on, it
is geared for a younger and hipper audience. They want all their shows including
cable ones to be hipper and younger. (If you look at the ages of the original
cast they are at least 38 years of age).
I may have disrupted the hen house with this but as I said this is how the
game is played.
Hope everyone is able to get SEASON 9 when it comes out October.
Take Care all,
=-
CBS did the same thing for JAG when it was cancelled after 10 seasons. (Gave it
a happy ending)
Or have them engaged at least. Who knows.
=-
Yeah look what happened with Josh & Donna in the West Wing, fingers, toes
and anything else I can mange crossed that TPTB are in a shippy giving mood at
the end of the season.
(I recommend the Jack/Daniel side of the force concentrate VERY HARD... And click their heels three times)
=-
Wellllllll, I hope they do a better job than DPB did with the JAG ending.
He used the last 15 minutes of the last show to tie up a 10 year relationship!
Harm and Mac deserved better and Sam & Jack deserve better.
=-
Now that was a show that ended right.
Josh & Donna (finally) getting it together didn't take over but I think all
were happy with the way it went, at least I was.
Maybe we should mail RCC a copy of the last 3 episodes of West Wing!
=-
This is a second show already that lasted only two
seasons after a major change of cast.
X-Files was of course the other show... Though I have
to say I liked the character Monica, she was a
believer the same as Mulder.
I wonder if they'll put J&S together for real before
the end.
Will it be a proper courtship and relationship or JAG
series finale style shoddy job?
I hope for the first option.

Would a letter writing campaign help ?
=-
I noted the similarity on GW myself. Each show lasted two seasons after the
central male character's departure. I only pray to God in heaven that we get a
better resolution to the ship than we got with XF.
And for those of you who say that RDA's second appearance has already been shot,
so what's done is done, don't forget, they're not *all* filmed I don't believe,
and RDA did say he'd be willing to do more if asked. So there's no reason for
"them" to not resolve this ship! Unless they're just being mean, that is.
=-
Absolutely!
A letter writing campaign is what saved Star Trek.
Write real letters though.
Typed are ok but handwritten letters have a greater effect.

***It can't hurt. Go for it.

decide to be mean. Remember the shows "Moonlighting"
and "Forever Knight"?

As long as the actors and actresses are game....we should be able to have a
say...I would never
want to force the situation when they don't have fun showing up for
work...but if it's the money that's talking, let's give the folks out there
an idea of the size of the market they're walking away from...

Here you go:
Let SciFi know how you feel about the non-support of SG-1 thru advertising and
the cancellation.
Remember it worked with Star Trek!
Below are the addresses of people at SciFi:
=-
I would never obstruct people who want it, but personally, I'm more inclined to
write that we want the ship resolved this season rather than that the show
should come back. I may get stoned for this, but honestly, I don't *want* S11.
Because with no S11, we have the possibility of movies or miniseries and ship
resolution. But I honestly don't believe that we'll ever get those things until
the show ends.
Add to that the fact that I think the writing has gotten embarrassingly bad, the
new characters dreadful, and it's just time for it to end. In ten years, I
wouldn't want anybody to say how bad the show got before it was cancelled, which
is what I hear about XF. That's just sad.
Of course, this is just my personal viewpoint.
=-
I intend on writing for a resolution to the ship also.

my views on it?
i'm conflicted. while i've been glad that sg1 went on
after rda/jack left because sam/amanda was my

the poor writing of them and the diminished writing of

ratings went down.
my only hopes now are that sg1 continues in a mini
series or movie(s), but with the *original* cast and
not the characters that i feel helped to destroy this
show. just my opinion.

We can but hope. However, there are worse possiblities too. Anyone remember the
horrible endings done to two
fine shows, Beauty and the Beast and Forever Knight ? Shudder!
But i really doubt we'll get any S/J ship closure. Sigh.

some other horrible ship endings were 'remington
