everyone will have their day to die.

And today might be that day. Ugh. Heat. Some idiot at work was claiming it wasn't that hot, and wasn't "record-breaking" despite the fact that it's been hotter these last few days than, oh, since 1996.

Moya has fresh oil, btw. And a new serpentine belt, as the old one was decrepit, and we all know that my luck would have decreed it snap during the weekend. I am vaguely sorry for the woman sitting next to me in Saturn, as I kept giggling at the Bloom County I was reading (22+ fucking years, and the politics all still ring bloody true. Christ, what's that say about the pointlessness of voting in America?)

Still hot out. Ugh.

*volunteers for the arduous task of fanning you with a large palm frond and spritzing you liberally with icy cool water*

Man, I got to break out my old Bloom County books.

(Yes, there was no reason for this comment other than a chance to bust out an Opus icon :) )

It's like a scary moment from childhood, except, you're reading it going, "Mr. Breathed, your predictions for the future are damned scary. 'Cause they're true."

A few years back, I saw Joe Jackson in concert and he pointed out that his song Right and Wrong from about 15 years or so earlier required precisely one word to be changed for it to be just as relevant now as it was then.

Plus ca change...
