Whoot.

I have successfully brought down both AC units from the attic, AND put them both in their respective windows. The larger one, of course, bothers me as it looks like it may fall out at any give moment.

And these things are both pretty frakkin' heavy. But I was ingenius. Get it down the attic stairs and load it onto a collapsed box. Slide said box all througn apartment to destination. Lift. The larger one, however, required something a little extra. Bath mats are FABulous things. Flip them upside-down, and you have the perfect, slick, surface for sliding over the floor. And the rubbery part hangs onto the AC unit like a glove.

Bits of me are going to be sore, I'm sure. But I'll live. Because there is now cold air spouting out into the apartment. Please ignore the electric bill behind the curtain.

Now, I eat something to replenish my body, and then I go buy another exhaust fan for the window behind me. And find some purple fabric.

eta: Note to self. ELLEN ICONS, you dippy idiot.

ETA2: ALSO, I BROKE A NAIL while hauling the first one down. And I had to yank it off that last little bit and OW OW OW. */wimpy*

No. And, actually, as I'm beginning to feel the AC over here, even without the fan in the middle of the room, I may not need to. (I run on the theory fan sucking air out window = AC air spreading through apartment faster)

Hurrah for cool air and your ingenious methods for getting the a/c units down from the attic.

I'm curious. Why do they live in the attic? Why not keep them in the windows year round?

OMG, Wisconsin winter = BAD PLAN with air conditioners in the windows. Snow stacks up on them and they fall, snow stacks up on them and they rust, cold air goes IN through the air conditioner as no sealing is as good as taking them out of the window, and a host of other reasons mostly having to do with the above.

Er. Also, hi!

See, this is what living in the Deep South will get you: no knowledge of snow and its adverse effects on window a/c units. My grandparents in Florida kept them in the windows year round, but they never, ever got snow. It may be sweltering today, but I'll take that over freezing my ass off in the winter, but then again, it's a matter of common knowledge that I am a cold wuss.

*giggles* What A.j. said. Also, closed windows in winter=nice.

See, the internet is the most glorious thing. On a day when it's 106 outside, I'm learning interesting facts about winter.
