Yarrrr.

Definitely noting a trend: if I like a movie, most people think it was shit. If I think a movie was pretty rotten, most people think it was the best thing ever.

Pirates made only 10 million less than Supes has made the entire time it's been out. And Pirates did it one weekend. Good.

Elizabeth. Jack is right about her, but not for the exact reasons he's thinking. Elizabeth simply wants to be free to love the man she loves, and not have to worry about conventions. She also kind of likes being a pirate. But only for the adrenaline rushes. She's also a product of the way they treated women in that time. It's a good balance.

Jack. Oh, Jack. *pats* All you really want is your freedom. I think Lord Beckett is right (and will have a descendant that moves to Atlantis), pirates are a dying breed. They have less of a chance to pirate, and get their asses kicked more. And Jack just, really, doesn't want to settle down with one, two--five--women.

Will. He's such a loyal puppy. And kind of stupid. *pats him*

I love that Elizabeth sacrificed Jack for them all, but then felt guilty enough to go after him. YES. Fabulous. *flails happily*

Wait, are you saying people think Pirates sucks? I thought that was just my brother, since my friends and I loved it. It was a such a fun movie.

Well, critics seem to think it sucks. But critics have rarely liked the same kind of movies that most of my friends do.

Well, I rarely agree with critics, so that doesn't surprise me. I just hadn't talked to a lot of people who have seen it, so I wasn't sure if lots of people had disliked it and I just hadn't noticed.

Yes. In going back through my flist, the largest response has been "It sucked" Sadly. Sigh. (also, "There was no character development" and "It was trying to be the first movie")

That's okay, Lysserbeanies. I still love you.

Even if I loved the movie, too.

The two of you will have to fight over me and ignore my fainting spells.

*gets out her sword and chases the movie around*

Where's my big wheel?

I liked it. Not as good as the first, but rollicking fun was had by all (or at least me and Mr. Mousie)...

PIRATES.

And, actually, I thought it was better than the first, but, eh. ymmv.

I think for me, the reason I will always like POTC 1 better was because is so came out of nowhere. I went to see it opening weekend, and all I knew was period costumes and cute guys. Thought it was going to be quite bad actually. And then it turned out great. That sort of utter shock was impossible for me with the sequel, by definition...

And yes. PIRATES. except now looking at your icon, I keep thinking of the Caprica Buccaneers and a crack!fic about Anders being a real pirate captain. Hmmm.

*this comment is incoherent due to the utter hotness of Anders and Kara running around as pirates*
