The Saga of The Teeth of Dooooom
Y'know, normally having good roots is, y'know, a good thing.
As some of you may remember, I was going in today, to have all four wisdom teeth pulled.
And I did. They shot me up six times (maybe eight?). And I noticed that the left side hurt far worse than the right did, when he was numbing me. This confirms my suspicion that the infection that was trying to eat my jaw has killed nerve tissue on the right side.
So, there I am, lower jaw could be pulled completely off and I'm not sure I'd notice, really. (srsly.so.numb.)
The dentist, smart man that he is, starts on the left side.
He ends up having to stick me THREE MORE TIMES, and the upper was never fully numb (good to know I have such a crappy response to pain meds).
I have very long roots. A procedure that should've taken about an hour and a half for four teeth took an hour and a half for two. So, I am the lucky owner of a partially-removed quad of wisdom teeth. The ones on the left are gone (the ones that are probably the hardest given the lower right is in pieces).
I CANNOT TALK OUT LOUD. Do you know how frakking annoying this is? I usually spout random crap to myself, the cat, or Timey. And I CAN'T.
Mostly because I'm worried I'll bite myself. Also. Still bleeding, and thus, have gauze to bite on and shit. Plus, talking kind of hurts. Oh, and my jaw is going to ache like I tried to pull it off, I'm sure.
Dentist, I b'lieve, is highly worried about whether he can do the other side--he may refer me to an oral surgeon.
Also, I did not stop to buy Draino on the way home. Because I can FEEL the anesthetic wearing off, and I needed to take some good pain meds before it started hurting (dentist's orders).
I would like some Sam/Kara fic, pls.
Now I am... stuck being hungry (and anemic. Oi, what a time to have THAT happen as well) and the tingling in my cheeks says it's wearing off. ALSO. MY TONGUE IS NUMB. This makes swallowing odd.
eta: Not even 12 hours and I'm drugged. Also, anesthetic? Fucks with my heart rate. ARG.
eta2: Let it be known that 2 tylenol 3 on an empty stomach kick in after about 20 minutes. And empty stomach = bad. *shakes fist at self and carefully eats pudding*

I sympathise.
Before I had my brace fitted I spent an hour in the dentist's chair having a single tooth removed.
The second tooth I endured nearly two hours in the chair because the tooth SNAPPED as the dentist pulled it. He had to dig the tip of the root out of my gum tissue.
Third time round I freaked out, had a panic attack and got myself referred to the day surgery clinic at the hospital to have it removed under a general.
BEST way of having teeth removed EVER.
Go to sleep with tooth and wake up without tooth and talking random crap.

I'm thinking I may do that. 'cause. ow. If the roots on the right are as long... I wanna be dead to the world, or very well-medicated.

I have the same problem with numbing. Apparently there's a nerve they aim the novocaine at and if your nerve isn't exactly where most people's is, you won't get the full effect of the numbness. My dad and I both have this problem - it's virtually impossible to numb my bottom jaw. Ugh!
*hugs you very carefully so as not to cause more pain*

I'm lucky enough to have room in my mouth for my wisdom teeth. However, one of them cracked and had to be removed. Fortunately I went directly to the oral surgeon.
On the other hand, it was an incredibly difficult removal and I found out that the roots of my wisdom teeth are not just long, but go up and then turn at right angles to really latch themselves in there. Ugh.
I wish you luck.
