Ok, since I don't watch DW you'll not be surprised that my comment has nothing to do with your post except to talk about your icon.
Since it's Cheif! in an animated icon... my sleep deprived brain now wants to see an icon of adam douglas in the kilt we've seen him pictured in, animated.
I'd love to believe that most of them are leaving that say they will, but it's too good to be true. I've been burned by that promise before.
I'll stay if Ten can get me over Nine. I have yet to see any with DT in it. Then again, if I don't like Ten, I'll probably stick around to see if Eleven is any better. I'm persistent like that.
I figure, if I have to, I can suffer through a bad Doctor by falling back on reruns of Nine and Four. At least I can't build up an almost allergic hate to a character like I did with a couple of my old shows.

It went something to the effect of: sex is like donuts. no matter how many you get, they are still satisfying. plus its much better covered in chocolate.
There might be a bad side. What if they suck her into the Tardis to be its soul, or bring her back in a cameo next season for the Doctor to tell her he never loved anyone but her?
(Mind you, I half-think that if they do bring her back, it'll be so they can re-enact the Sarah Jane scene, where he confesses he's never mentioned her.) :)
I'm not a DEVOTED watcher of the show, but I have been known to watch it. I can say however, that it IS a good thing that she is leaving. she just rubs me wrong. But as mentioned-- The Dr's new companion could be worse. shudders at the thought.
But it's not the most probable option, I think. They're probably going to go for a strong contrast in the characters, which hopefully means that all the wrong-way-rubbing things will be reversed. And they've done some very good female guest characters, so I think they're capable of it, even if they haven't sorted it out with Rose.
See, there should NEVER be 'ship (as in OMG! teh sex!) between DW and companion. Just, no. Unless that companion is another Time Lord. In which case they need to get down to making babies!
I was VERY UNHAPPY that the only way 9 could get the power out of Rose was to kiss her. Just, NO. DW does not kiss humans. Humans have very dirty mouths!
That said, I don't mind Rose at all. She does stupid things, like most companions do, but she was also a lot of fun. I haven't seen nearly enough of 10 to judge their interaction, but . . . no one should be surprised there's an uproar. Anyone rememmber back to Adric? Turlough?
I liked the first newskool season of DW. I wasn't sure I would, but I did. I liked the Christmas Invasion, with the new DW. He looks like he might work out. I liked Rose. I'm sure I'll like the next companion.
Does really matter that she's leaving, they'll get some equally vacant to take over now. Captain Jack has his own show, still waiting for a broadcast date yet though. Her acting still needs work, Chris Eccleston made her work much harder to be a believeable character, New doctor D Tennant does seem to be uin the same universe.
Bring back Chris as the new assistant naaaaaaaahhhh (i going through a very bitter stage at the moment).

I could kind of see it a tiny bit with Rose/Nine but I feel nothing for Rose/Ten. Of course, I feel nothing for Ten. I miss Nine. *cries*
Rose always annoyed me a bit. I love Nine, Captain Jack and Jackie. Jackie! No more Jackie? Now that does make me sad.
