newskool, review, part 2 of cybermen

la la

Er. Randomly.

I didn't hate it.

Except where the writers again shovelled in the "OMG ROSE IS SO SPESHUL AND THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS THE DOCTOR" crap at the end. Thanks, Mickey. I was hoping to go at least one episode without the OTP being pastede on yay.

Srsly. Has anyone else noticed that Rose is the only one who's allowed to survive as companion? It's fucking annoying. Not least because I dislike Rose immensely (although, I came across post-Rose fic wherein I actually seemed to like her, so I suspect the OTP/Rose's Family getting shoved in at all possible moments, and even some they were fucking superfluous, ruined her for me).

Mickey leaving? A bit shit.

The Doctor leaving a planet with SEVEN FACTORIES (or however many Lumic said) still producing Cybermen? Um, yeah.

"So, even though your planet's still being taken over by creatures that want to upgrade you, I'm gonna leave. By now. Try not to die too fast."

I do have a complaint, though, and this is about the entire season (and last). WTF? It's called a TARDIS. It can go more places than fucking EARTH. I know, I know, oldskool did a lot of stuff round Earth, but they ALSO got out into the galaxy and went all over the damned place.

Earth is not the fucking center of the universe!

This is like SG-1, a show about going through a gate to other worlds SPENDING AN ENTIRE FUCKING SEASON ON EARTH.

God.

Oh. And they killed Mrs. Moore. I liked her.

I didn't find the cybermen all frozen creepy they weren't covered in plastic, for one thing, and there weren't silos full of them, but it was tactically dangerous to walk by them. And, y'know, to talk. Apparently.

They also had the wrong music when they were waking up.

I didn't find the cybermen creepy, really. Not like the one who shot up Adric's keyboard (evil Cyber-laughter for teh win)--but that may be because it was so determined and wouldn't give up.

Sigh. If I hadn't just watched Earthshock not that long ago... And I don't think I have Revenge of the Cyberman on tape anymore. *mutters*

And, of course, next week, we're on EARTH again. Gosh. How exciting. */sarcasm*

"Not like the one who shot up Adric's keyboard (evil Cyber-laughter for teh win)"

"HURRRR HURRRR HURRRR HWAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!"

And next week's episode looks like it's going to be exactly the same as... well, this week's episode. Without Cybermen and set in a different time period.

*cries* I'm really beginning to hate Earth, you know.

"So, even though your planet's still being taken over by creatures that want to upgrade you, I'm gonna leave. By now. Try not to die too fast."

It sounded like the other plants weren't online yet. I think it was Mickey who said at the end of the episode all those Cybermen were in cold storage.

I figure it's a question of cost. Look at how they kept re-using their off-world sets like Satellite 5. I'd rather have a slick production set on Earth rather than another dreary gravel pit.

Honestly? If I have a choice between Earth and a quarry? I'd prefer the gravel pit. At least it's somewhere that isn't fucking Earth.

It's no longer a TARDIS, it's a TARD. Or possibly just a T.

Bwah!

It's a TARDIE. ("It's change, my dear, and a little bit too late.")
