random thoughts on bsg last night
there will be spoilers.
Yes. I liked the episode. I even like the time-jump (I don't have faith that things will get explained well, but I haven't EVER had faith in the BSG writers to be intelligent), and think it works logically in trying to move the story along.
You can't live as a ship in a bottle for three seasons without getting stale (see Star Trek and Stargate, to some extent).
Kara settling down and not flying? Very wrong, makes no sense. At all. Her marrying Anders? Yes. The not flying, though... Sadly, I'm sure we'll have a horrible, soap opera explanation for it involving Lee and angst. *eyeroll*
Zarek was not at Baltar's swearing-in ceremony. I watched the scene twice to determine it. I think he was on Cloud Nine. Which means he's dead.
Gina killed 15-20,000 people with her bomb, unless Baltar's been letting them die on the planet. (49, 505 at the start, iirc, 39,something occupying New Caprica). She took out five ships including Cloud Nine.
Six? Owned the scene in Baltar's office.
Dee's hair was very nice, and I liked the confidence she had. I'd also like to shriek about Ron Moore stealing my crack!fic idea, even if it was Sam Carter running Pegasus with Dee as her XO.
Hrm. I have fic to finish....
Also, can the Kara/Anders shippers get a Telkena of our own, please? I need someone to mock, and we're all kind of moderate and cute and gleeful now.

Billy: "Er. I guess. Sorry?"
Mom: *hugs him* "Fine. But if you shoot me in the chest I'm coming back to HAUNT YOUR ASS."
Billy: "I'm okay with that. So. What would you like me to do?"
Mom: "Well, that lot of kids looking rather terrified over there needs help with their multiplication, don't you, kids?"
Kids: "Yes, Ms. Roslin."
Mom: *turns and hugs the stuffing out of Billy* *whispers* "I don't care. I'm glad you're okay. So very glad."

And then there would be teaching, and possibly Billy being disturbed at the Cylons around him and kind of keeping them from disrupting the classes. And then the first Cylon/Human babies would be in classes, and they'd all be Too Smart or very dumb. or. something.

...and then I go curl into a fetal position in the corner and weep. Profusely.

Adama said half the crew had gone planetside. I assume the same ratio for the Pegasus give a take a few. Many of the civie ships were still up there and they had to have people on them. So I figure Gina took out a few thousand people maybe.
Fic! Why are you posting here instead of writing *whines*

I am actually making icons. And, er, fic is running away.

And, well. She took out five ships. Cloud Nine alone probably had a few thousand.

The first fic I ever read in SG-1 was Telkana's. I knew beforehand that J/D was a very popular pairing in the fandom, and after reading her fic I started to wonder if maybe she was a bit responsible for scaring people away from Sam/Jack. Good times! (Six months ago, but still. Good times!)
