ahem. The SFF With the Guest Stars

SG-1: SAM! I love Sam. PlzcanIhaveone?
Lantis: And then they done sex.
BSG: Not enough Kara (ever)

SG-1: Crisis on Infinite SGCs.

This is how I like my Stargate. Bouncy and energetic, with a fast pace, and technobabble, and snark, and people shooting things, and people one-upping each other, and Our Team being Smarter.

Plus, the smug Teal'c look.

Seriously, I think this is the best episode they've done this season. All of the little bits and pieces just came together so well. The conversations, the interactions, everything.

I loved Daniel's little bounce of insanity on the bridge, not to mention his reaction to Janet (heart-rending and hopeful and OW), and his last hug of her. Too too sweet.

Teal'c. Doesn't normally get much, but he was there, this ep. He spoke, he smirked, he was smooooth. And so fucking smug at the armory. OMG. And he got to hug Janet, too! (and isn't she TINY compared to him?)

Cameron! Got to be bouncy and cute and wear boxers. And get smacked around. Awww. SACC? Where are you now?

Sam. Hands down, Sam rocked this episode over. She was smart and bouncy (yes, I like that word), and so very happy. Plus, she got to technobabble and talk to herself, and A ROOM FULL OF SAM. Seriously. I have DIED and gone to heaven. Except there's no Kara there. But, yeah. They gave her something to do. THIS is why I like Sam. Because she's useful, and fabulous, and OMG if they'd just fucking go off-world more than once a year....

For an earth-based episode, this rocked my socks.

Command dynamics: I was intrigued with the bit on the ship when Sam basically ordered them, and evil!Cameron went along with it. I wonder if Sam's in charge in their world?

Not that it matters. What she said made sense. *smug*

Evil!SG-1, btw, is made up of Daniel (who's having an affair with Jack), Teal'c (he has several wives), Sam (married to Pete) and Cameron (sleeping with Dr. Boring Lam).

MARTOUF. I hadn't realized how much I liked him, until he was there. Either he's being better written now, or I did actually like him. I liked his conversation with Sam, and I wish they had kissed! It would have been pretty! DAmned voyeuristic Asgard!

JANET. My love for her is now rekindled. she bitchslapped Landry, and she let the others hug her, and OMG. She was JANET. And there, and alive, and she and her Daniel might be sleeping together.

I just. WOW. I loved this episode enough to watch it twice. SO MUCH LOVE.

Lantis: The One With The Bomb

Er. There was a bomb. And things happened. And there was Sparky eye-fuckage, and they went and had a nice shower afterwards.

And, er, there was angst and Lizzie being Evil (as we know she can be). And Cadman's ass is nice.

Barrett! And 101 Dalmations!

...er, yes, I should have talked about this one when we saw it at SqueeConSouth.

BSG: Baby Ex Machina

Blah baby blah dying, etc.

There were vipers!

I actually liked this episode, but I was in and out. May rewatch tomorrow.

Also. Am highly amused that, y'know, All that Pegasus crap happened and... the impact? Nothing. Kinda like a Star Trek episode.

I HEART SIX, btw. Mental!Six, not touchable!Six. 'Cause, omg, dragging Gaius by his wrist down the hall.

Seriously, though, SG1? So. Good. The crew were obviously ALL gelling and having a blast. I loved it.

ETA: Further thought on BSG. If Roslin is no longer dying, then she's not the dying prophet who will lead the people to earth, which... well, what's it all for, then? Doesn't this make everything done in the last several months pointlessly futile?

Of course, it's still not as bad as the moment in Pressure Point where you realize just how much Blake's fucked up.

Remember, Cylon Fetuses are the cure for Cancer.

And again, BSG could have been better if the Cally screentime had been higher. *cough*

Yes!

And next week... MOTHA F'in BILL DUKE.

SG-1: Crisis on Infinity SGCs.

BWAHAHAHA! Comic book humor! Gotta love it! :D

I agree with everything. It was awesome! And so many possibilities! And it was fun, and everyone was involved. So good!

Roomful of Sams is the best thing ever!

It totally was. *wants more, omg*

And next week! They go off world! (I think hell froze over)

SG-1 restored my faith in the show to be awesome. The room full of Sams was especially great, and then they threw Martouf in! *dies*

Pants-less Cameron was also good!

I think getting rid of the cancer thing was a good idea - it moves the character away from her big miniseries thing. I don't think it makes the last few months futile, but it does call into question how that all happened if she isn't the prophecied leader, and how much they can or should pay attention to scriptural stuff in the future.

I couldn't tell whether they'd busted Kara back down to Lieutentant from this episode, though, and that question bothers me.

They didn't. I looked closely, she's still wearing her Captain's pins, and Lee had his back, so Adama rescinded his demotion.

As for the other matter? I think there are two possibilities: 1. The prophecies are fine, but interpreting prophecy is tricky; Roslin just isn't playing the role she thought she was playing and someone else is the "dying leader"; or 2. the "cure" isn't permanent.

My entire review of this ep, however? "NOT ENOUGH KARA." Of course, I believe that next week there may be NO KARA AT ALL, which will be a seriously bad thing.

can we boycott next week's episode, then?

[identity profile] ebneter.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she wasn't in "Fragged" either, which I have therefore watched a grand total of twice: Once when it aired, and once on my DVD just to verify that it played correctly.

So, yeah, I'll watch it, but it's not gonna go over real well...

What? No (Captain, yay!) Kara at all? That's just unacceptable. I was fine with minimal Kara here, because I really like Baltar, but I need my weekly dosage!

[identity profile] ebneter.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 08:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not positive. But I do know that Katee Sackhoff had a week or so off sometime after shooting "Resurrection Ship," because a (very lucky) fan met her on an Alaska Airlines flight to Portland, and she told said fan that she wasn't in the episode that they were filming at the time. It's possible that she's briefly in "Black Market," of course, since they apparently frequently rearrange subplots between episodes. But yeah, there's a very real possibility that she's not in it at all.

On the other hand, the next one, "Scar," is all about Kara.

My fucked up theory is that this leaves room for the prophet to be Adama. He was dying for a while there too, so no they can revisit the ole' Adama V. Roslin storyline in the futute if need be.

I adored SG-1. The Room of Sam could only have been improved by a quick cameo of Jack coming in, doing a double-take, and saying, "This is either my wildest dream or my worst nightmare."

And OMG yes, the pretty that would have been a Sam/Martouf kiss! Damn that Asgard!

Atlantis was good, but my favorite bit was Dr. Lee explaining the relayed message. "The Twilight Bark! 101 Dalmatians!" *blank looks around the room* "The Lord of the Rings! The signal fires!"
*everyone nodding and grinning*

And I'm dying of the cute that Dr. Lee with little kids inspires.

Gaius freaked me out on BSG. The woman has been raped repeatedly, and you think she wants smoochies? ACK!
ext_18106: (My other hand is on her ass)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2006-01-21 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Dr. Lee has KIDS. That just, on some level, SCARES ME. Plus, LOOK, the Stargate program doesn't ruin everyone's home life! It is possible to have one outside your job!

Because he's obviously watched 101 Dalmations, or, y'know, READ THE BOOK to his kids...

For the first twenty minutes I was thinking, "This'd be a good episode for Richard Dean Anderson to pop in for a minute." But then instead of Jack we got Janet, which was a nice punch in the gut.

Which, come to think of it, is as good a description of Heroes (which I'd just rewatched) as may be.

Yes, well, given RDA's extreme lack of performance anytime he's been on screen in the last, say, year... I'm really really glad he wasn't there.

HAH. Yes. *angsts*

And he got to hug Janet, too! (and isn't she TINY compared to him?)

DUDE. First I thought Daniel was gonna swallow her whole with his hug, and then T stepped in. This is why it can be both fun and scary to be THAT FRICKING SHORT.

I loved the bit where evil!Cam explains the trick outside the armory, Sam & Daniel look at each other, there's a pause, and then T says: "Indeed." Best indeed ever, Teal'c. You rule.

15 Sam's - totally hot. Sam technobabbling - totally hot. Sam - totally hot. :D Mitchell was pretty good too. And I was sensing some Sam/Cam vibe? Check out how close they stand and sit together, the little looks they give each other and stuff. Or maybe its just AT and BB having a bit of fun :D

*InfiniteSamLuv*

They should give the Sams their own series. *nods*

At three occasions when they mentioned Sam was with somebody or on maternity leave and was praying that Sam/Jack would be confirmed in at least one universe but alas it was not to be.

Favourite moment was Sam's response to "Finally someone who can keep up with you?"

"Yep." :)

And Cam's "Another stupid question, oh yours was fine but mine is stupid."

And pantsless aliens.

Was I the only one to get the impression evil!Cam and evil!Sam were shagging like bunnies offstage?

And the "bizarro" ref from Cam which immediately made me think of Sealab 2021.

BSG - mental!Six dragging him by the tie then not being there from anyone else's POV then him being standing there holding his tie up.

Heh.

Evil!Sam and Cameron were totally shagging. Dude. "I'm going to bed." "I'll... come with you. Tuck you in."

The bizarro ref might have been a nod to those of us who randomly say, "They're watching the bizarro!SG-1" Or, y'know, just something the writer thought sounded amusing. ;)

YES. I heart her.
