SFF: Bored Now Review
I think I enjoyed Cable and Deadpool more than SciFi Friday.
Spoilers, etc.
SG-1: In which Crichton is stuck in the Aurora Chair whilst Riker Confesses to Killing the Scientist to Boink his Wife.
Or something like that.
At least there was no Lam.
And no Holodeck. Damn.
I did like his backstory though (and feel all of five again, because that bit, with the shuttle? Yeah. THAT WAS MY DAD AND US KIDS OMG). And. Dude. He needed a hug. Heh. And I love love LOVE the potshot at the military and their civillian targets (not to mention the added angst. Oh, Cam! *pats*)
Lantis: INVISIBLE SASQUATCH.
'nough said.
Galactica: Meh.
What I did like (because I did like parts of it, I just. Sigh. Perhaps I expected too much).
1. Chief and Helo in the cell and the torture. YES. Although I'm sad they didn't go further, but I guess prison rape would be too much of an Issue for them to touch.
2. 'Splosions!
3. Kara. Hot and hot and flying and... actually, while the performance was nice, I didn't care. Muting it and watching her dress for battle was hot, though.
4. MOM MADE DAD AN ADMIRAL OMFG. I died. And Billy! Who was kinda "Erm, I'll be over here..."
5. Adama backing down.
6. Kara passing Cain's test. What. I'm the only one who thinks the entire thing was to find out if Kara could be trusted not to kill her? Not to mention Cain's pointlessly laying it on thick. Ugh.
7. GINA ROCKS. Seriously. Rocks. "You're not my type." KILLED ME DEAD.
8. THE BITCH IS DEAD. There was cheering, here.
9. Baltar, and his weaselly-ness. Nice to see that back. And his echoing Six's line to him? Fucking PRICELESS.
10. The funeral. This was going to go under irritations, except, well, it was all just propaganda, and we know how insidious that is. Just look at America right now.
That said... All of that build-up, and then there's no follow-through.
1. The battle. Wow, that was simple. Just a few decoys, and suddenly, one battlestar can destroy a basestar. *yawn* Oh, were you worried they'd lose?
2. Kara. I think I shouldn't have read the new Black Widow right before watching this, because the contrast of Natasha's easy killing with Kara's pointless angsting about it was boring. Contrast this with Kara The Sniper from season one. (and, no, I still don't see a difference with shooting Cain and shooting Zarek. Hell, Zarek's actually been LESS OF A THREAT. Cain is batshit insane, and you do NOT leave a rabid dog around to bite you, even if it's acting nice). Also, sadly, people were wrong about Kara playing Cain.
3. Dear Lee, please stop being annoying and go back to being my favorite snarky bitchnext to Daniel.
Lee really IS the Scott Summers of Galactica. Apparently, he is currently going through post-Apocalypse In My Head Trauma, with Added JEAN SLEPT WITH LOGAN angst, and the occasional suicide attempt (except for the part where Kara is Lee Forrester, so, really, Lee, she just KISSED YOUR SON).
Sadly, this makes him boring. I prefer my Lee snarky and slightly obnoxious, NOT sitting on the Mansion Roof Angsting (tm Remy LeBeau) about how he Can't Touch Rogue.
4. I'm glad I finally found something more boring than watching Sheridan get tortured for forty minutes. Lee and drowning. Dude, you could show me that and break me in about ten minutes. Just put it on repeat. Maybe throw in fingernails on a chalkboard.
5. THEY KILLED THE BLACKBIRD. Chief! I'm sorry! They're stupid! *sad* But, yes. Wow. REALLY FUCKING POINTLESS.
6. No one died. Well, ok, Cain did. And the guard on Gina's cell, since she snapped his neck. But, seriously. Where was the body count?
7. Gina's ease with getting anywhere on a fully-occupied battlestar. Or was she all in Baltar's head, like Shelley Godfrey?
...hrm. Think that covers it.
eta: btw? If someone says, "Oh, the podcast explains it all!" to me, I'll repeat what I've said before: If your writer can't get everything across onscreen, he's a shitty author, and random interviews and commentary should NOT BE CANON.

Scott Summers. *Shudder* I can never look at Lee the same again.
Although the Remy Analogy...
Mmmmmmmmmm...

You love me! *glees*

Mom and Dad SLAYED ME. I actually said "Mom and Dad!" out loud (while bouncing, cough), and my roommate laughed, but he got it. Mwaha.
Blowing up Laura made me sad! ;_; And I'm a total dork, but I just loved that they named it Laura. Wah.
I completely zoned out during Cain's speechifying to Kara, and when she got to the end and said "Don't. Flinch." to her a couple times I had to turn to Michael and ask "Um. What was she talking about?" Only he didn't know either because he'd tuned her out too. ;) I'm also sad about Kara's angst over shooting her. Maybe I'm just being bloodthirsty, but damn, I wanted her to do it.

Cain was being all Prophetic about how you Shouldn't Flinch when you're going to assassinate her. *eyeroll* It was realllllly laid on thick.

1. YES!!! I was disappointed too in the non-attempted-rape.
3. I thought of you during the dressing scene. :)
dislikes:
1. I thought the few scenes of the battle looked pretty cool. I was though, surprised with how easy it was to take out the two basestars, and how little time they spent on that fact. I also wondered what happened to the decoy ships, and why no one made a comment along the lines of "Hey, we lost 300 men in the battle, but their sacrifice was well worth it." This will irritate me more if the population number has only decresed by two next week.
3. Amen! When I heard that this half of the season will have emo!Lee I was really 'meh' over that idea. Nothing annoys me more than whiny and melodramatic men.
5. I was more upset over losing the Blackbird than having Lee catapulted into space. Poor Chief. I think Cally needs to go get him a drink and give him a hug.

1. Oh, it did look cool. I just felt that they'd been building it up and then... there was all of ten seconds of it. And, yes. Some sort of casualty report would've been nice to hear. Or seeing other ships blown up. Or. Something!
3. Even melodramatic Crichton is mellowed by him being MANIC half the time. *sads*
5. Exactly!

WORD OMG. I hate that.
I think Baltar snuck Gina out as a new pet. Wouldn't have been all that hard in the commotion, and she *was* wearing uniform clothing. Mayhap they just thought she was a janitor running to fix one of the toilets that had overflowed.
no subject
Maybe he spaced her.

NO! *protects the Chief's anus* NOOOOOOO!

A-frakking-men. I'm so sick of this sort of thing pulled in film theory courses. "Well, if you know this-this-this, all of this-this-this makes so much more wonderful sense" and I just go "but I didn't or couldn't know this-this-this, so it doesn't matter. It's crap."

Now see? I posted something at HE months ago about Helo and Chief maybe getting raped by Peggy crewmen out to get revenge for their buddy and was poo-pooed and told it was too Oz. But now, after the ep airs? I have seen so frakking many posts from people wishing they'd gone there. It's not that I *wanted* my boys to be raped. It's just that I thought the story kinda demanded to go there. Maybe not even actual rape, but the threat of it. Fisk could have stopped that from happening just as easily as he prevented further beatings.
*shrug* Oh, well.
And amen on the podcast crap. That's why I've stopped listening to them.

It would have been scarily fitting.

luuuuuuuurve each otherare so damn cute. And Billy love! Got the biggest crush on him. However, all the Lee bitching is making me apprehensive about watching the full episode.
Also, allow me to have my Star Wars moment over the Blackbird: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
no subject
Oh, dude, the full episode is, is. You'll either like it or love it or hate it, or... Yes. It's not bad. It's just. Wangsty.
no subject
You know, it wasn't that bad. Cept for the Lee-angst (seriously, is he trying to break a record or something?) and the creepy Mommy!Cain/Kara vibes. Quite enjoyed it. And the kiss at the end made me squee more then a little.

I think there should be Sam/Kara fic after Res Ship 2 (angry sex).
In short, there should be more Sam, Kara and sex.
