Doctor Who ramblings.
Have been bingeing, for some reason. Ended up watching The Awakening (not as bad as I'd remembered), the beginning of The Daemons (I'm sorry, Inferno-haters, but THIS one is the one that's really crapaliciously boring), Tomb of the Cybermen (best viewed whilst not really paying attention--although it did give me a plotbunny that will shortly be finished), Invasion of the Dinosaurs (John Crichton and plastic dinos, eek), and Timelash (bombastic and kinda sad, but occasionally amusing ESPECIALLY because Vena looks like Pella and Sezon is Gunn-Sar, and the Borad's Public Face is Docholli. Kinda Blake's 7 Old Home Week.)
Also watched 30 Years in the TARDIS, and old pledge breaks (I was very young).
There is still lingering irritation at women being maligned in DW (I'd like to note that I think Rose is a worse companion than Victoria, I find Tegan still very grating, and Jo at least had spunk), as I tend to find them rather fun and amusing and less irritating than the Doctor (all save Peri, who is just as obnoxious).

...though I like the whole damn thing, cause I'm a TroughtonDoc fan.

30 Years in the TARDIS was rather great. And that was rather a while ago...
I've actually compared Rose to Jo; I think they're very similar. Fun, happy, sparkly blondes in short skirts, without much in the way of qualifications. Rose's main drawbacks are her drippy boyfriend and bad cliche of a mum, rather than, you know, personal flaws. But a lot of the companions were pretty cool.

It was. I'm feeling old.
Rose just... I suppose she bores me, and I keep wanting her to die. And her family. omg, her family makes me want to not watch any episodes with Rose.

Polly remains my enduring example of how people have gotten the wrong idea about women in DW. She's totally competent and clever in "Highlanders," among other things. Not to mention talking back to a Cyberman in "Tenth Planet." Ha.

I've liked Polly, the little I've seen of her. And she was very competent.
