DUDE TOTALLY.

I love that she gets her insides blown out. And I was gleeful in my vid of making sure EVERYONE KNEW THAT SHE DIED PAINFULLY. Mwah.

Damn, I love that show.

Dude. Julia was a stupid fucking love of his life. Seriously. Admittedly, we know basically nothing of what actually happened between them (they were lovers..? and Vicious did something? And there was anger and Vicious had Julia watched hella close or something..?) but at the same time.

JULIA IS STUPID AND I REFUSE TO LIKE HER.

*pats you*

*gives Julia a cookie*

*realizes Julia is dead*

*gives you the cookie instead*

Er, liek, Julia was liek Vicious's girl, and then she fell in luff with Spike, and Vicious was all OMFG U CHEATED ON ME, H0R! Something like that.

Yes, but if you watch the show THAT ISN'T NECESSARILY CLEAR. I mean, it's kind of vaguely indicated, but there's no actual evidence that Julia WAS Vicoius' girl.

That's what I love about Bebop. It's totally a headfuck from day one, and it's such an interesting series. Because it is totally a series that is scenes that would normally NOT be shown. All of the heavy plot stuff is hinted at but never explicitly stated. I mean, this show is basically the drudgery that would go on behind the scenes of a fast-paced bounty hunter show.

Even the bounties they track down are the amusing and kind of crap ones. The only PLOT shit we get is the last two episodes and that's totally the end. And even then we get the skeleton of the picture and not the meat. Which is just SO FREAKING AWESOME in a conceptual way.

*pats Dead Dead Stupid Julia and takes the cookie* YAY COOKIE!

HIGH-FIVE! I don't like Julia either.

I was kind of indifferent to Julia.

The only reason I have any sympathy for her whatsoever is Spike. Spike is a cynical bastard who lives a relatively sucky existence. But he was immediately willing to give up that existence, plus Jet's friendship, and the fact that Faye was possibly falling for him, to go find Julia.

Which means that what little we see of her is only scratching the surface.

I love me some Spike. I adore him. And because he loved Julia, I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she was more than just pretty and ethereal-looking.

At the very least, she had the sense to pick Spike over Vicious.

But on her own, I can see why it's easy to go "what's the big deal? She's your typical anime blonde woman in danger with the hair that always blows dramatically in the wind."

She was an interesting plot device... the fact that she was a lovely golden-haired memory when Spike has nothing but contempt for the rest of womankind just backs up how screwed-up he is. ^^ I suspect that if she'd lived and he got to know her again, she wouldn't have been the way he remembered her.

She wasn't so much a character in her own right as a bit of backstory for someone else. I don't resent that in this case, because the show had other women who were interesting characters by themselves.

Yes, I have seen bits of it. It's amusing.
