Training: finished, I think. Need to call and find out when I'm scheduled.
Bones: Madhouse 2.0 gives it a thumbs up for snark, decent science (dude, Timey knows bones, and we geeked for a while about the skull and pelvic differentiation), and Angel is allowed to actually act. Plus. omg. Temperance. That poor girl. But she kicks ass like no one else (she broke a tv with a baseball bat! OMG I've wanted to do that!), and she stays up all night and falls asleep without getting undressed. Been there, done that. PLUS, there is a logical explanation for the lab girl being involved in the police side of the work. OMG. Also. She shot the guy! Yes! Because you shouldn't pull a gun if you won't shoot people (plus, how many times have I yelled about something like that??? A LOT. See: last week's bitch about the X-Files episode where they all just fucking stand there while a man is trying to set himself on fire!)
fh: er... Kind of didn't pay it much attention. Sorry.

I forsee cancellation in eight weeks. =P
There were a few things that bugged me though. The holographic thingy did seem to be pushing things a little too far, and was there for "Oooh, shiny toys!" effect. Also, the writer kept coming back to the same catch phrases that got old really quickly, hammering us with the characterizations a bit heavily in the first thirty minutes. I suspect pilot syndrome, trying to get the characters across quickly to the suits. And aside from "Don't call me Bones!" which I can almost abide by, if it wasn't used so often so quickly, I'm now drawing a complete blank on the other two I remember there being, so...
Ah! "I hate psychology, it's blahdy blah blah..."

The 3D thing.... well, it was a little hokey. But I actually give them points, because theory just decided "Okay, this doesn't exist, but let's do it anyway." But it's OBVIOUS it doesn't exist, as compared to half the computer programs and shit they stick into shows which leave people wondering "So why haven't the cops/forensic people/ etc. done this?" 'Cause it doesn't exist, people!
Er, anyway.
If it gets canned, I'll be annoyed. Especially since Crossing Jordan is still on the air and they can't get basic anatomy right. Then again, Bones seems to be trying to vaguely educate the audiance, and we can't have that.

I knew it'd be different because though the setting is the same, the other characters are not. However it would appear Tempe isn't like what she is in the book, mind, I'm just judging that on your gun comment, as in the books the character refuses to carry a gun.
She just stabs people with scalpels ;)
Is she still a dry alcholic?

She isn't, unless they missed saying it.
It being from books does, however, explain the Mary Sue Parents (disappeared when she was 15).

No, that never happened.
I think they made their own character and just gave her the same name! I suppose she doesn't have an ex-husband called Pete and a grown up daughter called Katy either :P. Heck, she's probably not even from North Carolina...
That's a shame, it'll be hard for me to watch the show as the two characters will clash in my head :s. Even though Kathy Reichs is supposed to have helped write it...
A Quilt for Kielle
You may not know me, but you know Kielle. If not, please forgive me, as I found you listed in her "friends" file.
I am making a quilt for Kielle. Why? Because she is ill. To put it bluntly, she has cancer. If you are not aware, or have not heard, please refer to her LJ. Chris has been keeping her journal updated for the interim.
So what am I asking for, and how much will it cost? It will cost you the time it takes to email a picture of yourself (or representing yourself) and words of encouragement to me to be added into her quilt.
You see, I have the blocks nearly done, and they still look… well, "bare" is the best thing I can think of. Then I had the idea of dozens of her internet friends sending her well-wishes into the blank spots of the quilt and the idea has been chewing away at me.
So I am asking everyone on her Friends list (and elsewhere) to pitch in and add their smiling mugs to the quilt. You don't even have to use your real name, you can give me the name she knows you by. Just make sure there's a name attached to it can go onto the block with the right face.
Please send it all to me sometime before October 25. Anytime after that, and I will have already sent it off. I would like Kielle to receive the quilt by October 31, as that is a special day for her and Chris.
