omg.

I just realized something.

"The Cylons have a plan" is the Galactica crutch.

Just like, "Oh, it's the Hellmouth" was on Buffy, and "subspace anomalies" was on Trek.

Now I know even MORE why I think the Cylons are kind of pointless. Because they're just the writers' excuses to do Dramatic and Angsty things.

Isn't that generally what villains are for? Bad guys with more meaning to their lives than 'take over the world' or 'destroy humanity' are rare birds. It's one of those things that we're supposed to accept as a plot device, and get on with enjoying the story.
