I've heard bits and pieces. He's calculating and plans far in advance for every eventuality. Almost the Dr. Essex of Alias, although Sydney is no Jean Grey.

He's calculating and somewhat morally ambiguous but willing to defend his daughter no matter what. He's really good and lying and beating people up and is generally an excellent spy. In short, he's arguably the coolest character on the show, and a million times better than Sydney.
Umm...sort of. Except unlike Zarek, he manipulates people for more than his own benefit. And unlike Adama, he has absolutely no problem killing people, lying or otherwise bending moral standards rather a lot if he feels it's necessary. And as such, he's way cooler than either of them.
