Yes.

And she's a fan of weapons. Especially ancient types (bows, knives)... Yum.

Hrm. I shall have to make her a girl+gun=otp icon. Yes.

I'm so shallow. She makes me want to watch the show.

Dude. Dayna is worth it. And the whole damn show really, really, is worth it. Hot chicks, hot blokes. Costumes from a porn shop (thanks to the costume designer wanting more leather kink). Yayness.*Purrs*

Any chance you could make the texts (and the images)less blurry and/or stroked? Most of the white texts just blur into the background with nothing dark behind them. #27 is good just because there is a shine making the text stand out, but in #30 the "faith" really does blend into the background, as do most of the white texts. And obvious Britpick on "color" instead of "colour".

Bulletproofkink is the best. Avon. Caption. EVER. I'd use it if it stood out more clearly! What software are you using, Paint Shop Pro or GIMP?

I think we've had this discussion before. I suspect it's going to end up agreeing to disagree, because I *like* my icons with slightly blended-in text, and a lack of sharpness to them. I have saved the same icon as a gif and a jpg, and the gif looks much more jagged and not as good, imho.

As for pgograms, I've been using photoshop. Although having dug out the first icon I did, I'm kinda tempted to do stuff in paint again.

If you want, I can chuck the screencap from bulletproofkink up somewhere, for you to grab and crop?

Blurry is good, and ok, I know it's a question of taste whether it veers on the edge of "nice and blendy" vs. "unreadable"--I don't like my text being too sharp and crisp either, hate the jaggedness. Gifs make them jagged, yeah, especially if it's a detailed pic, but JPEG compression can really blur up the text in a bad, non-smooth way. I *think* I have the bulletproofkink pic somewhere--that was from the very good site with brushed-up caps, wasn't it? So will use that, yeah:).

I still recommend the stroke tool (with various opacities) or even just something darker in the background, because it is borderline unreadable (IMHO) with some of the icons--I need to squint to see what they say, and I bet some others do too (heh, says the woman who makes blurry photomanips). And I hate it when I want to have white or red text on an icon and then it's someone's face in the pic and the colours mess it all up, augh. Stroke helps a helluva lot in that, as do the various other filters like "outer glow" which you can easily change into a black glow.

I'd rather have sharp text on a blurry icon, but your Avon and Jenna "maybe it's all about greed" icons had JPEG blurriness around the letters, whereas the text would've needed .gif sharpness, since it looked really messy over the image. The formats are damn tricky and annoying, grh. Wish there was one that offered good non-lossy compression and clear text...

I do like your captions, and I'm not slagging them off, I just think their readability could be improved by not just using one colour, black or white, but choosing different ones (especially one from the image and a darker one for the stroke) and using the stroke options. [livejournal.com profile] chronographia has some damn good tutorials on typography that I haven't grasped yet, not even halfway, eep. I adore her DW alphabet. Chronographia really encouraged me out of monochrome text colours, bless her little cotton socks... at the moment, typography only matters to me on the readability level (curse those curly historical fonts I'd love to use on dashing Doctors)!

I'm sorry, I keep getting distracted by your kickarse women sidebar... mmmm... and probably should sleep... yes... must not nag... Must... chill... out...
