See, I find myself wondering about authors like AliMoo. Is she desperately uneducated? Is she just not that bright? Does she not care about spelling and grammar and characterisation?

Do you vaguely remember me betaing for someone way back and despairing over her writing? After a highly honest beta of her fourth chapter or something (which took me hours, but anyway) she got it all together. Her prose now reads well, and though I still disagree with some of her characterisation (Carter still giggles, sigh) I at least respect the fact that she's improved so much. She must have made a real effort. Whereas AliMoo... I don't know, I find it all puzzling.

And, yes. This means I do know authors who know they're writing badly, but continue doing so because, omg, they must tell you their stories!

Actually, Maria, for all her arrogance, did have occasional moments of brilliance. And I'd take her over Telkena and AliMoo anyday.

Maria was once offered the services of a fabulous beta reader, and she turned him down. She was also beta-read by other people and ignored their suggestions. Lord knows we're all happier she escaped comicfanfic for Pokemon...

Pokemon fic? Does that extend beyond Pikachu squealing 'Pika Pika!' lots and Ash and Pika bonding? (Oh god, that sounds so wrong). Actually, I have a mini stuffed Pikachu, so I probably shouldn't mock. *laughs*
