It also helps to have a lot of fic-writers on your friends list so that your announcement of "I'm making a ficathon!" gets more than blank stares in response. ;-) That's why I'm afraid to run one.
I would sign up if I watched SG1 more than casually, but as I don't, and haven't even done that in some time, I probably couldn't do it justice. Sadly.
I saw your signup, and have a little info on the standard format I've been seeing. Most ficathon signups have a section for things you don't want to or can't write, so you're not handed an assignment that'd make you miserable and not get your story in by deadline or handed an assignment that's S5 when you've only seen S1-4, or whatever. They also tend to have a quick "What rating are you comfortable reading/what rating are you comfortable writing", so gen and hardcore adult writers aren't accidentally mixed, cuz a gen writer can be made very unhappy having to write, or having their gift story be, something adult.
