Pimpernel

So, dude. OMG. The Scarlet Pimpernel, with Richard E. Grant: Really damn good.

First episode: Lee appears, and is NEKKID.

Second episode (Mademoiselle Guillotine): Dr.Baltar.

James Callis actually isn't all that bad an actor. Pity he had absolutely NO chemistry with the brunette playing his girlfriend. Unlike Helfer, she gave him no spark. Which says a lot for Helfer, really, she give Callis chemistry and goads him on to being good.

Neither of the two (in SP) sold me until near the end.

Callis' character, btw, was a rebel, who was into God, King, and Country. He believed God Was On His Side.

Cue hysterical laughter.

Because, um, yeah.

Mr. I Am God's Bitch...

Am now eagerly waiting to see who from BSG is in episode three...

*FLAILS*

OMG. I forgot Percy and Marguerite flirting SHAMELESSLY in front of the idiot woman. I was laughing maniacally. I love them so.

Heh. Never seen the musical.

I've seen the 80s version with Jane Seymour, iirc. And part of the one with er... Whatsisface who played Ashley in Gone With The Wind...

::is just in shock that you liked this version::

:: perhaps was just too idealistic and spoiled by the AWESOMENESS of the musical as a child... may have to re-see this ::

... :: especially as my beloved gaius is in it...errr ::

Oh Richard E Grant!

*laughs* I think part of it is that watching it, there's a... nice sense of time and drama and place. And they pull absolutely NO punches. People die, there's blood, there's humor, there's villainy... And while some of it is cartoonish, not all of it is.

And I'm a sucker for realism and freaky drama. (see: Lyssie's Love For Event Horizon)

When I first heard about it, I couldn't imagine him as Percy. But he's just such a delight. He's much more like the Percy of the novel, too. I adore the musical beyond the telling of it, but they've gone a bit overboard with Percy's "nincompoop" public persona. It's funny for a while, but it gets old by the end of Act I.

I love the A&E Percy for being every bit as apparently useless, but still all snarky. And Percy and Marguerite pretending to snipe so viciously at each other when they're out in society.

It's in my Netflix queue, for reasons that have nothing whatever to do with nekkid Jamie Bamber. *looks innocent*

*snerk* First time I saw it, I just registered it as "We are OMG young and idealistic and STUPID!!" Like they were into the idea of Being In Love And Sacrificing For Our Ideals, and each happened to conveniently find the other so they could be delusional together.

Every time since I got the DVDs, I just giggle at Baltar and Princess Irulan kissing.

Am now eagerly waiting to see who from BSG is in episode three...

:: racks brain :: Don't think so. I think we've run out of Brits. But yeah, hella funny that both the BSG Brits were in SP.

OMG. I forgot Percy and Marguerite flirting SHAMELESSLY in front of the idiot woman.

Is that not the BEST EVER??? With the possible exception of Chauvelin sputtering and frothing at the indignity of it all...

*laughs* That's true. They did play idiotic Idealists well. I think I'm jaded, though, since Callis opposite Helfer is so irritatingly compelling.

*is sad that we've run out of Brits*

Is that not the BEST EVER???

Yes! Shai was falling on the floor, and I was giggling madly. It was SO FABULOUS.

NEKKID LEE!! *wants*

Heh. Baltar. Hehehe. Still can;t see him as anything other than Bridget's Gay Friend.
