random SG-1 fluff...

Vague s6 spoilers, I think. Don't remember. blah blah.

"Daniel, will you sleep with me?"

"Jack, did you just proposition me?"

"No! It's just -- Carter won't sleep with me."

"There are reasons for that, Jack." Daniel settled his glasses again. "For one thing, you snore."

"Daniel." Moving with an agitatedness not normally associated with him, Jack grabbed up a paperweight. "Listen. I need someone to sleep with me because..." He leaned in, "Because I'm afraid of getting abducted by aliens."

Now, normally, when a friend says that sort of thing, one assumes the recipient of the comment will make a snide joke about aliens not existing, or not doing that sort of thing. However, Daniel Jackson knew better. "Ah. So you asked Sam, first?"

"Actually, I asked Teal'c."

"Uh-huh." Daniel rubbed a hand over his head. "Jack?"

"Daniel."

"Aliens are not going to abduct you."

"You sure?"

"Very sure. In fact, if you like, I'm sure you can get Sam to whip up a shield so aliens can't beam you out of your bed."

Jack scowled, "I'd still rather have someone sleep with me."

"Well, it's not going to be me. Why don't you go ask the General to assign someone to sleep with you?"

"Daniel."

Already distracted with the inscriptions he'd been going over again, Daniel sighed. "Jack."

"You're not being helpful."

"I'm so very sorry, Jack. What would you like me to do to help?"

"Sleep with me."

"No."

"Well, you asked." Jack emphasized the statement with his hands, gesturing emphatically. "And I really need."

"Jack. Go bug Sam. Get her to make you a shield, or a jammer, or something."

"Fine. I can see you're no help." The Colonel said, his voice irritated. He stalked out of the room, arms swinging.

"That's right, Jack," Daniel said to his blessedly empty office. "I'm no help at all."

*is amused by the randomness* I feel a renewed wave of sympathy for Hammond. And Sam. And everyone who's not Jack, in fact. *cuddles them all*

Heh. I was reminded while reading over it. This was a reaction to this really shitty Highlander/SG-1 crossover I read where Jack wasn't sleeping because OMFG Teh ANgst of maybe being kidnaped by the Asgard and crap. And the characterization of Sam was bad.

[identity profile] nakedtoes.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
You're kidding? *is very amused* I just can't bear to read crossovers - I know that they can be done well, but there's so little evidence of it out there...

Wow.

Heh. Well, I'm the Crossover Queen, so I have to keep my finger in as it were. Poke at the water, see what scum appears, that sort of thing. And the one thing that was good about that crossover was that the characters weren't immediately the Best of Friends. There was angst and strife.

And then the author obviously realized they had no FUCKING CLUE where they were going, or how to get out of the hole they were in...

And their characterization of Sam was just wretched. But then, so is about 3/4s of the S/J fic out there. Sigh. We need more Sam lovin'.

[identity profile] nakedtoes.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't read any of your crossovers where I'm familiar with the fandoms. Then again, I'm not allround geeky enough. *looks sad* British programming doesn't help though.

I'm trying to write Sam lovin', but it's not going very well - it keeps turning into all thought and no action. I have a habit of doing that. *is cross with self*

heh. Er. I'm just very well-watched. Or a SF whore. Can't decide which.

*throws a grenade at Sam* Action! Angst! Adventure!

[identity profile] nakedtoes.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe both? Personally I obsess for ages and then finally move on: at least you're more interesting to talk to. *shrugs*

*Sam blocks the grenade by power of her mind and sends it back to you*

Ahh. I was indoctrinated into SF very young. I grew up on Doctor Who and Star Trek... And Blake's 7. And, thus, I can stick my nose up at crap like Lexx or Andromeda...

*dodges grenade and watches it take out the East Phalanx of Plotbunnies* Oh, thank god. No more Scorpy/Crichton ideas.

[identity profile] nakedtoes.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too, on the first two, but I seem to have forgotten most of my Doctor Who, but I also got hooked to many American sitcoms which has led to my having a kind of US accent (very embarrassing to explain). Then I discovered Buffy in ep 4 or something and scifi got swept by the wayside.

*laughes*

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!! That's brilliant! Poor Jack... He must be so paranoid by now.

Jack says, "Why yes I am." really smugly.

"Ah. So you asked Sam, first?"

"Actually, I asked Teal'c."

In the interest of thorough coverage of the topic, I think you are now required to elaborate on the two aforementioned incidents.

*grin*

Heh. *pokes Jack* I'm thinking about it. I'd like to actually finish it and stuff. Maybe with Janet dosing him. Then I will post with the note that it was inspired by this really shitty crossover...

Yes, I am vindictive.

[identity profile] ness-va.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehe. Poor Jack. His team just doesn't love him they way they should ... ooh, now *there's* a story idea :P
ext_18106: (Default)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Hehehehh. Yes, well, his team are special, but not special enough, apparently. ;)

[identity profile] thatpalebluedot.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Um. Somehow I am now imagining Teal'c attempting to 'fix' Jack's snoring by hanging him upside down, or some such thing.

Anyway--if you haven't already, you must go to YahooTV and look at the new poll there. And see who's winning. ;)
