I'm looking for a fic where Jack is riding a motorcycle in an
exihibition and Sam sees him. She's there with a date that drugs (date
rape drug) and Jack is to the rescue. Jack has to take care of her..

I read that fic, too. Part of its badness was how clueless Sam was to her date's bad behavior. She kept making excuses for it, or thinking she had done something wrong, and wanting to make the relationship "work", despite the overwhelming stupidness of it. Gah!

Gaaaaah. The scary thing is, I've actually seen this fic. ("AAAAAGH! My eyes! My eyes!") I don't remember what the hell I was googling -- IIRC it was something not even SG-related, and this hit came up and I clicked it out of morbid curiosity. Baaaaaaaaad mistake.

If I knew where to find this thing again, I so very wouldn't tell this person. It was so veryveryveryvery bad. ::trauma::

Haha! I think it was just so the author could write Jack in motorcycle leathers. If I remember correctly, there was this whole scene about Jack being this mysterious rider in a helmet so Sam doesn't know who he is, and he makes this whole sexy connection with her while she's watching him ride.

Then she gets doped up and raped/near raped and Jack rescues her.

I'd just like to point out that I had to go through this with Gambit/Rogue fics and am currently slogging through many Catwoman fics of the same nature (wtf?). If you'll note, it happens very often in fandoms where the central female character(s> is/are strong and capable. What makes it of interest is that there are often canonical damsel in distress types available for this type of story, but they are not used.

This would seem to imply that writers feel a need to handicap the strong female character, rather than just possessing a desire to write a classic hero to the rescue story.

*nods* Yeah. I'm getting that impression, sometimes. It's all about, "Well, I have to make them weak, or, or, they're not HUMAN or some crap like that".

And having cheated and read the end of, ah, the Hush? storyline... Catwoman is human, but she ain't frakkin' stupid. *mutters*

Neither is Rogue, come to that.

I'm not sure it's even a conscious 'make them human' thing, though. Based on all the fandoms I've seen this in, I'd have to go with 'make character B (who often happens to be female) look weak in order to make character A (often male) look strong', with no forethought given to how this doesn't jive with established characterization. Basically, the misogyny happens by accident because it's so internalized, people just don't notice. In my only nod to slash, I'll admit that slash-writers tend to counteract this simply because the cliche isn't as readily available, though not by much of a margin.

At least with Rogue, she's canonically an emotional asshat who screams and yells. Catwoman dosn't have that excuse, because she's like Batman - all about that silent rage. As the joke goes, the practical supervillain.

Mind you, it was fun, if you ignored the usual big-name-title plot holes and clone people art. The 'shippy stuff got thumbs up from me, except for that last part where Batman chickened out because lovey stuff felt funny (though notice how Catwoman basically rolled her eyes at him). That was promptly rectified by the regular Catwoman team, who managed to slip them doing sex completely past regular Batman readers (who typically don't read Catwoman). Musta used some super-lube for that trick. (We laughed our collective ass off).

I dunno, I'd give good money for a fic where Sam's date-rape-drugged, notices the effects before she's incapacitated, and kicks the guy's ass before she books. She maybe calls Jack when she realizes the drug's too much for her to drive on, and he takes her home. Then poor Jack's left trying to hold her hair back while she hurls, with her telling him in the most polite gov't-approved way to fuck off and leave her the hell alone.

That would be a fun fic.

I take it that this would be a vastly preferable fic to the one being looked for? At least as far as Sam-behavior goes? :-) I can just see Jack getting fluttery and maiden-auntish while he's trying to find out what happened and try to make her feel better at the same time. She gives him the gist to make him essentially shut up and go away. Then he's all set to go smite the guy, and Sam tells him she already kicked him so hard in the 'nads that she's pretty sure they ruptured... hee. The sheer disappointment on his face at getting beaten to the punch should be priceless.
