AHEM. Fic Challenge.

The Intergalactic Space Hussies Need Fic, Too Challenge

Do you like Sam Carter? Are you frequently disturbed to hear people describe her as "too perfect", "Mary Sue", "boring", "badly-written", "one-dimensional", etc? Do you find yourself going out of your way to avoid fic that says, "I really think this is how they should have dealt with Sam's stupidity in X"? Or, conversely, mocking the hell out of it?

Do you find generalizations irritating?

Ok. Maybe not that last bit.

Well, if you're anything like me, you appreciate that Sam is a human being, that she isn't perfect, that she makes mistakes. And you still love her as a character and crave fic about her that ISN'T all about who she's fucking/dating/getting married to/is married to.

Not that that isn't one aspect of her character, but it's not the only defining one.

C'mon, this is a woman who's been tortured, who's had a tok'ra symbiote, who's blown up a sun (with help), who is currently in charge of the premiere SG team, and solved theoretical equations that no one will ever see because they're classified.

She's cool, she's fab, she's multi-dimensional!

So. This is what I want from you, dear writers. I want Sam Carter fic. You can write about any era. Captain, Major, Colonel, General. It can be AU, it can be so out there that it doesn't resemble canon (though near-canon is preferred). It can be long, short, multi-chaptered, anything.

Plus, well, I just want to piss off the anti-Sam contingent with lots of Sam.

Please help?

I don't know if I have the time to write but I want to read it all!! I agree that especially in fanfic, too often authors just get too caught up in making the characters' life too...lifelike.

If I do write something, I pretty much promise it'll be an AU 'cause I'm so behind on my SG1 its' pathetic.

I don't mind getting personal/life-like touches. But I'm tired of reading fic where she's second-string, or only there so she can have sex with Jack (yes, I am a hypocrite).

Although, actually, one day, I will write the Sam going Christmas shopping with Jack fic, which will scare him, as she treats it like an op and is all organized and crap...

Hon, everything I write is centered around Sam Carter.

Well, almost everything. Everything Stargate SG-1. Almost everything Stargate SG-1. At least 99% of it features her.

Oh, and try to persuade people to post it on Carterfic. Sometimes I'd swear that Denise and I are the only two people posting on Carterfic. With no offence intended to other people who post on Carterfic. It's just, compared to Jackfic? So Not A Busy List.

Is it connected to the Carterfic website? Because I knew about that -- someone suggested I post "Still Waters" there. But I didn't look closely, and didn't notice there was a list.
