er...

Dunno how many of you have metaquotes on your flist, or whatever. But there's an asshat who's posted something that takes advantage of an XP hole. It crashes your computer. *shrug*

ETA: Journal's been deleted, entry is gone. metaquotes should be safe again.

*laughs at self* You know what was about to do?Go to metaquotes to check it out. Which would have meant my computer crashing. Because, obviously, me? Not that bright. Hee.

*whaps* Only if you turn off flash and images, first.

Yay for the terminally old-school. I have ME, so all it did was give me a 300-scroll-downs friends page. :-)

...honey? ME sucks ass.

Also, I think it's a problem with the NVidia video card. Probably not limited to XP, but that's where the hole seems to be.

But nothing *newer* than ME is DOS compatible. And I had to hack *it* to make it run some of the older games that I'm still addicted to. When I get my new box, I'll get a better OS, but I'm keeping this one, and it's going to stay ME for the rest of it's little life.

Actually, XP is generally more compatable with running DOS games than other versions of Windows. Sometimes needs a bit of a stick taken to it, but more often than not... ;)

Could always make a small DOS partition, too.

I never had that experience. Of XP working better, that is. No matter what I did to it, it refused to run Masters of Magic. Just dead refused.

And it's only a 20gig drive. I'd rather not have to partition it.

Thanks for the warning!

Any idea when it was posted or what the subject line is? I turned images/Javascript/etc off and went to look. No "luck," but it may have been deleted by now.
