And commentary. On the new Dr. Who.
You have been warned.
I'm not commenting on the opening titles. Whether they're finished or not, I really don't give a shit. I also don't care if the music isn't what will be in the finished product, nor the special effects.
That said. Gimme a second. I'm incoherent.
This. This is what I was hoping for. A melding of camp and SF and sarcasm, and omFG fun. There were times I was literally bouncing in my seat. This is the Doctor Who I've always known and loved.
I cannot express how much I love that Rose is not as skinny as a rail nor as intelligent as a physicist. She's actually rather human. And curious as a cat, and, and... Actually, Piper's way of holding her mouth open will be a little irritating, I suspect. Erm, and I'm not sure how old she's supposed to be, but there were about two moments when Piper's body language felt about 40.
Don't ask me to explain that. I can't.
Eccleston is SUPERB as the Doctor. He brings wit and humility, and is just fabulous.
Completely omg Fan note: In the photo with the family from the Titanic, I swear that was Paul McGann...
*shrieks* Excuse me. I'm gonna go be incoherent and fangirly.
ETA: Best line EVER "Can we leave the domestics outside?"

(Within two seconds, he was the Doctor to me. It was scary how quickly I was like, "oooh, Doctor!")
It was wonderful and lovely and terribly, terribly exciting and I can't wait till it actually bloody starts and I can download it each week and squee like a total fangirl.

And. Dude. Two seconds? The moment he yanked her hand... yup.

I am so surprised I like Christopher Eccleston as much as I do... And I was kind of disturbed by his sexy leather jacket which seemed rather un-Doctor like. But the lovely British cheezy sci-fi plot and hilarious dialogue...
OMG, tell me this will air in Canada!?

And. Dude. Eccleston was fanfuckingtabulous. But I liked him in, ah, Shallow Grave, I think it was. And, so, I just... really liked him and expected him to rock, and he did.
*squees happily*

And the Doc? Oh my...he walks a fine line between arrogant and sentimental. I love the balance he strikes.
Yup, and I can't wait for the rest of the season.
