Why do people feel the need to say 'New Fic' when posting fic to a list? If it hasn't been posted there before, it IS new fic.

*mutters*

Also? If you can't grammatically title your story, PLEASE STOP WRITING NOW.

Save the rest of us the trouble of deleting it.

Was that me? Because the first list I joined required I put 'New Fic' in the header, and so it turned into habit. Sorry.

I've just been noticing it for a while and found it kind of, ah, pretentious.

Oh. I do that. I thought "new fic" vs. "fic" meant that it hadn't been posted anywhere before, rather than something that just hadn't been posted to that list before. (And I didn't hear that rule from anyone, I just made it up after seeing that some fics were posted "NEW FIC!" and some just "FIC!") Because some people *do* post things to lists a while after they've been written, because it's a new list or because they haven't gotten around to it yet.

But when I see 'New Fic', I tend to say, "Yes! We know!"
