For those who don't want children on Galactica, you can be amusing and add it as an interest:
babies-banned-on-the-galactica!
galactica baby ban

(personally, I kinda like the latter, 'cause it's amusing)

How can you think that? omg! They need to repopulate the human race and shit!

sigh.

*nods* Roslin pointed out in HoG that they're all over-crowded. Babies? Would make it far worse.

You know, I'm really glad we haven't seen much of Boxey lately. The kid was cool when the show was light and airy and I was a kid too, but this version really isn't a kid's show and the less we see of them the better.

I also agree about the babies in fanfic thing. They could really be banned from all fanfic and I'd be perfectly happy with that though.

I haven't read any Galactica fanfic but...

You obviously aren't obsessed with the genetic possibilities. 'd personally be very unhappy without (well written) kids in fanfic.

I guess it depends on what you'd consider to be well-written kids. In Stargate they tend to be the center of the story and make the main couple all domestic and schmoopy instead of soldier-ey and denying their UST like they should be. ;)

Just not my thing is all.

No. I've just read too much Phil Hartman.

Adama changing diapers...you know you want to see that! ;)

But Roslin said in the Pilot, they need to start having babies. They need peeeeeeeeeople. It's perplexing, I'm as against pregnant Thrace as you are, I think. But if there was maybe a split of a few female roles who are more suitable to become pregnant, and some who aren't. Maybe that's a better mirror of real life.

Yup. You're right. What am I thinking? All of those female officers should now be officially considered breeders and locked in rooms until they're pregnant.

[identity profile] nexstarman.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
There are no women who want kids and should have them in the series. IMHO.

Agreed. Alhtough there appears to be no shortage of Cylons with ticking biomechanical clocks...

[identity profile] sandra47.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
I have only seen the miniseries so far, but isnt their whole existence dependent upon them starting to have kids? Not that it should be a focus or anything for the tv show...

They are all on a bunch of ships flying around looking for a place to hide from the baddies right? It isnt like there are humans on a planet that would be more logical to do the whole population thing right? lol I should probably try and watch a few eps. I could have that totally wrong. :)

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Well, actually, according to 'Hand of God', they're also HIGHLY over-crowded on those ships. Adding babies certainly isn't going to make things more comfortable.

[identity profile] sandra47.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh see that makes sense then...need to watch some of the actual episodes :)

[identity profile] aj.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Um, wait. Aren't babies like necessary for the survival of the human species? And isn't that kind of the basis of the show?

Okay, yeah, soldiers are less effective when pregnant, but um. How are they going to ban that? Especially when the birth control runs out?

*confused*

Eh, no me caring.

[identity profile] lyssie.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
We're gonna disagree on this one, I imagine. Since, having babies while running? Waste of resources.

Re: *blinks*

[identity profile] nexstarman.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I only remember one birth even being mentioned so far.

[identity profile] katcorvi.livejournal.com 2005-03-15 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
But if you have cute babies, then you can also have the cuter daggits! That's what this show is lacking: daggits. We need the stupid cute.

Oh, never mind.

*shrug* It amuses me.

[identity profile] livilla.livejournal.com 2005-03-16 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Gee, I would but I really, really need to cull some LJ interests.

Also, the thought of Adama having to deal with a lot of babies running around on Galactica amuses me greatly.

No, fanfic has not broken my brain!
