'Lantis. BSG

(Sorry, Jara, I've been spamming too much)
Lantis: Teyla is my new TV girlfriend (after Sam, Aeryn, Vala and Kara).
BSG: *happysigh* I just love adrenaline.

Atlantis.

My love for Teyla knows no bounds. I love this. Suddenly, we have character and movement, words, actions, STUFF. omfg, I love her!

This continues to build on the thoughts I had last week.

It also confirms the sibling feel between her and Sheppard. There's a bit where it's obvious that he's worried. "My baby sister is being stupid." Also nice to see that he's not completely seasoned at command, since any smart commander would have talked with their subordinate before siccing a psych on them.

Didn't like the psych.

Liked Teyla.

Does Lizzie have nothing to do but translate Ancient?

Eh. The Big Revelation was kinda pointless. Um, yeah. DUH, people.

BSG.

Er. There were explosions. And laughter. And really bad Titanic music.

Seriously, people, bagpipes are SO 1996.

Six is still sexier when she's wearing more clothes.

Please can I have a Kara of my own? kthnx.

The prophecy stuff? Stolen from comicbooks. Dude. Does this make Roslin Destiny? I suppose that means Lee is Nate, and Kara is... Dom?

Ugh.

LOVED Starbuck's plan. Again. Can I PLEASE have one? I'll even let her out, sometimes. I won't object to the smoking...

There was more Gaeta/Gaius. Dude, is anyone shipping them?

hrm. Maybe more tomorrow. Am tired.

Not really. The Pythia is from Greek legend - the priestesses at Apollo's oracle at Delphi. A key quote from the Homeric Hymn to Pythian Apollo goes thusly: "welcome the tribes of mankind who gather here, and tell them most important of all, what [his] will is."

What's interesting about this is Herodotus' writings on the subject;
an example being Croesus of Lydia in Book 1. Despite his piety and many offerings to the gods, he loses his empire when he marches east to fight Cyrus, as a result of misunderstanding an oracle from Delphi "cross the river Halys and you shall destroy a great nation." 1:88-90 records his search for an explanation of what happened to him. Faced with his accusations, the oracle defends itself, saying that he is being punished for the crime of an ancestor several generations back. Herodotus does not comment on this specific cause, but clearly believes that Croesus's misfortune illustrates the larger truth that divine resentment strikes a man at the height of his prosperity (like the 12 colonies were destroyed at the height of theirs?)

And. I need sleep.
