lyssie: (Mystique - bad idea)

ATTENTION

Anyone who doesn't want to be spoiled for Threads: STAY AWAY from the Stargate section on fanfiction.net! Some dipshit posted a summary that has a major, MAJOR spoiler in it (and also says 'spoilers for Threads').

God. The stupidity of some people....

You know, this whole England-gets-it-first thing is TOTALLY IDIOTIC. It would work if there wasn't an internet, but as there is this pesky little device that allows the GLOBAL COMMUNITY TO COMMUNICATE....*grumbles*

Second! Move to floor!

Scifi Girls kissin' in your icon! YAY!

Is your objection that there are so many more US viewers than British, and that therefore a larger number of people are up for inadvertent spoilers? That it's a US show, and therefor you should have first dibs? Or that Brits end to post on US sites when the opposite just doesn't hold?

I don't see why it's totally ridiculous that SG-1 airs here first. Unusual, yes, but the US habitually 'spoils' the rest of the world. I suppose I could stay away from all US sites, but I just try and deal with it. *shrugs*

Yes, I'm English, so I'm obviously biased, but I'm not trying to be ultra-difficult. I'd just like to understand which particular aspect annoys you so much.

And for the record, I'm not arguing about the need for spoiler warnings. I'm just curious :)

I just want everyone to get them at the same time, really...

Sorry if I offended you, was not my intention --

I'm just frustrated about this whole wonderful internet thing we have going on here. I have no issue particularly with Sky One playing it first over the Sci Fi Channel as if there wasn't an internet, it wouldn't be a problem. :) So basically, it's just an ironic and crappy situation for the fans as we ARE a part of a global internet community. Matrix did it all weird-like with the zero hour release of Matrix Revolutions (yes, I saw it at 8 in the morning in my time zone when it was released. *squees*) But... that *is* rather silly. So, I'm not saying that the Brits shouldn't get it first, damnit, it's our American show - no, not at all. I'm just frustrated that it's an issue that divides the fans and causes all kinds of spoiler problems (fic, rants, icons, etc)

Not all offended, and likewise from me. I've had plenty of my own rants when in your situation. And while a tiny evil part of me is happy that we get something first (I know, so childish), it's a shame that people weren't more responsible. *sighs*

Some people can be so stupid

[identity profile] mylittleredgirl.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
GAAAH.

Thank you for the warning! *avoids*

I have to say people who post SPOILERTASTIC SUMMARIES before their spoiler warnings are even MORE stupid than people who just don't post spoiler warnings. Seriously. Do people think the spoiler warnings are just to make you sound cool and knowledgeable? PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE THEM, ASSHEADS. *kicks people*
