sigh. Is it bad that anti-Sam commentary makes me not read episode reviews? Because every time I read an episode review linked at metagate, it's got "Carter was an idiot" this, "blah boring Carter" that. And I stop reading. It's very irritating.

Oh well.

*prods the internet*

Entertain me.

I refuse to look at anything on metagate. They're all on crack. *loves Sam indecently*

I'm suddenly seeing a lot of that lately. It's not bad that you avoid it. I'm doing the same thing, or probably will be when I start seeing most of the eps people are talking about. When I see that I tend to just stop reading too. If I don't, I become too tempted to go on a pro-Sam rant. It's not like they do any good anyway.

I really thought that I should stop with the pro-Sam rants because everyone on my flist has probably gotten the point already, but I'm seeing more of them ahead.

Please continue. I think my biggest problem is that, if Jack, Daniel or Teal'c do it, it doesn't matter if it was stupid, "they had a reason" and thus, it was ok. They are golden boys, and no one ever hates them for being imperfect.

But if it's Sam? Hooboy. Look out for the shit to come flying in about how the writers "can't write a woman" or "Sam obviously thinks with something other than her brain" and shit like that.

*pauses* And I should really go to bed, I'm depressing myself.

One word: Jealousy. That's the only thing I can come up with right now.

*g* Go to bed.

And not only all that, but I'd be willing to bet almost anything that if Sam's character were male, everything would suddenly be justified.

You just want to shake them and make them get a clue.

Well, I don't really rant about Sam all that much - or at all, really - but I do occasionally have a few problems with her (the Replicarter/weapon fiasco springs immediately to mind), and that wouldn't change at all if she was suddenly a man, or an Asgard, or one of those robot-carrier-bodies with the tiny tiny little guy in them from the first Men In Black movie. ^_^

Hehe! Little mini!Thor inside her head?

Well, it's cool that you're level-headed about Sam. Fans like you aren't really part of the problem. It's the ones who seem to make their whole interest in the show their hatred of Sam. They write whole essays on why she's a bad character. Mistakes or faults are not allowed. How sad is it that I've considered writing one as well just to defend her? ;)

It becomes rather obvious if you follow their logic, that they aren't holding Jack, Daniel or Teal'c to the same standards. If Sam disobeys an order, she should be immediately court-martialled. All three men have disobeyed orders more often than Sam has and when they do it, it's "cute" or it's just "their personality".

I like that Sam makes mistakes and the occasional bad judgement call. I like that she can make bad decisions. I like that she can sometimes miss the big picture and yet sometimes she's the only one who sees it clearly. I like that because it makes her human like me. I've done all those things. Probably more often than she has.

She can't win because she's the ultimate woman on that show. Everyone has a different view of how she should be the 'perfect woman' so no matter what she does, someone is shouting that she's a disgrace.

A little dramatic? Yeah, I'll admit it is, but it just grates on me. I don't at all mean to say she's perfect. In fact, I even enjoy discussing her and her mistakes or what I'd do differently with the character if it were up to me. But sheesh, the anti-Sam folk take it to a new level.

Well, since my reaction to Gemini was that Sam hit her head in the shower having sex with Jack (much like Dot in Reboot season four)....

But these are the same people who claim Sam is at fault for Janet's death. Because she left her post to check on Jack (omg! Letting her emotions run away with her!!) and thus, one lone jaffa made it past her position and killed her best friend.

The same people also claim Sam is the one with the crush on Jack, and that he doesn't return it. (good to know that Divide and Conquer was a figment of her imagination)

Like Surreal says, they hold the guys to a completely different standard.

I'd stop reading, too. Then possibly go on a shotting spree.
