wtf? Seriously.

C'mon, people, what the hell does it take to get a flame around here?

sigh.

I did, however, realize one thing. The reason this sgcdarkfic site is so pathetic is because I cut my teeth in a fandom that had really fucking good 'dark'fic writers.

Hell, the Subreality Massacres alone could turn your stomach (c'mon, Dex had a fascination for maggots!).

*grumbles* SG-1 sucks when it comes to darkfci.

Dark. Bah. People don't know the meaning of the word.

...*eyes* You're just as evil. And this is SO all your fault.

(of course, it was helped on my side because Timey was reading over my shoulder, and Shai was in pain at the thought of one fic where Jack's penis stretched Sam's cervix...)

And the bit where we have decided to replace cock, penis, member and dick with 'sidearm'.

Sam is now a holster.

Yeah. And hit the base of her womb.

(ps. Jack's shootin' blanks, not sperm)

Maggots and spines. *grins* Ah, nostaglia.

Oh, I need a postal address for you - got an Aussie Music Pusher CD to impart on you and Shai.

Maggots and spines and mind control and fog and strange noises and people exploding...

Oh, now I wanna go reread it...

Right. Will send one off in a second.. *g*

Dude!!! There's darkfic???? WTF!!! I am such a ficvirgin!!! Thanks to you and that delightful discussion at samandjack, I'm now off to be disturbed. Is there anything else that I should be made aware of?

Heh...

Well, I think her point was that the dark fic was hardly worthy of the name. Which... well, reading some of that stuff over her shoulder? Jack ordering Sam around in some sort of (bad) S&M game does not count as dark fic!

Hrr. Must. Finish. Daniel story...

Wait . . . can I take this as an official request for dark SG-1 fic? The possibilities are endless! Wanky and Mary-Sue-ish, as some darkfic can be, but there's great potential.

For good SG-1 dark fic? I would so be all over that. Because coming from various vampire-themed fandoms, I'm used to having good dark fic on demand.

Or, okay, writing some of it, but I don't have time to write fanfic these days.

Yes. And yours was fabulous. *mutters* And right up there with Benway's, really.

...er, as far as I know, you weren't on the sgcdarkfic archive, but I didn't make it to the t's... If you are, I apologize, because you are NOT included in my rather grumpy and sweeping statement.

Damn it. I knew it was too good to be true. I should know better than to get all excited before checking something out. I should also know better and read the entire post before getting all excited. I just saw the word darkfic and lost it. Please have pity on me, I've read way too many Mary Sues lately.

Oh well.

Does death=darkfic, but torture!=darkfic?

[identity profile] mitai.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Here's a question - can you have true darkfic without killing someone? If you just torture them, even darkly, but they live, isn't that angst?

Say the team gates to a planet where the locals torture people for ten days to determine whether or not they're goa'uld, and the torture is dark, and Hammond tries to mount a rescue that fails, and ulitmately, they all live. But they had to lie in a pool of living ticks for a day, survive a blood-letting, act in a subservient fashion (with or without blatant sexual overtones), perform repetetive, useless labor without food or water, and work as a team to overcome a deadly obstacle course.

Angst? Or darkfic? It would DEFINATELY be (wanky) darkfic if they all died. It would be like that scary Laersyn Mauarader fic where they finished off the X-Men. But if they all live to talk about it, isn't it just angst?

I am deeply, deeply entertained that these are terms in need of defining.

You will not I'm not appalled, but entertained.

Also curious as to what the answers are. :-)

I don't know the answer to this actually, but why make angst and dark mutually exclusive? Can't a fic be both dark and angsty? I rather thought they'd go hand-in-hand, anyway, so long as it's not just mental angst along the lines of, "OMFG, she is dating someone else, I'll never have true luff!"

Honestly, I take Benway as dark, generally. Dark in tone, whether it's angst or torture or death.

He's kinda the yardstick I use. *shrug*
