hrm... boooom...

Ever listened to a song, and thought, "Wow, I really like the way it sounds, I should read the lyrics!" and then been disappointed because the lyrics, well, just weren't that great? Or the opposite, ever read lyrics, and thought, "Wow, this must sound really good!" and it sounded like shit?

I have. Many times, probably.

Most recently, with Theory of a Deadman's "The Last Song". I love the way it sounds, it's rich and melancholy, and slightly depressing. Then you read the lyrics. And the lyrics are... sophomoric and kind of stupid.

On the flip side of the coin is Velvet Revolver's 'Fall to Pieces'. I had never heard them, I'd just read lyrics. And I was excited the lyrics are quite nice (not quite on par with Something for Kate, but nice and depressing). The music, however, sounds like shit.

sigh.

Hrm. Coffee.

Man, I was so disappointed when I read the lyrics for "Collide" cause I thought the chorus said, "Love isn't a lucid state of mind," and it said: "Love is an elusive state of mind," and I liked my lyrics better. :)

"Lola" made so much more (literal) sense when I thought it was "In bed I'm a man, and so is Lola" instead of the actual lyrics, "I'm glad I'm a man, and so is Lola".

HAHAHA. Like yours so much better. It implies they went to bed at the end! It's like fic, dude.

I read somewhere that Seal never publishes his lyrics in the CD jackets for that reason... He would love a song and sing it to himself, only to find out later that the real lyrics were disappointing. You always like the ones in your head better.

Hrm..

Yeah, like you know your previous entry where you said you'd always wanted to use that title? I read it first as "Constipated People" and I was sooooo disappointed, dude.

Reality can suck sometimes.

Yeah, I like a lot of songs until I hear the lyrics... because the lyrics suck, and I go, "WTF? That's lame." I prefer to listen to songs where I don't know the lyrics if they're dumb =x Also, when the music part of songs is good, but the execution sucks, I go, "Bleech." "Fall to Pieces" sounds good in my opinion, but it's really repetitive in actuality, so I don't like it.
