Ah, BsG.... I know the sound of panic...

So. Watched most of the mini tonight. Actually paid attention. It's not bad. It's not painful "omfg turn it off!!" like other shows are (Crossing Jordan, CSI, Alias, Lost, Andromeda, to name a few). It's not "I will die if I never see it again!" either. (which, so few are)

But it's shiny.

And I am completely in love with Starbuck. My girl crush, which used to just encompass Aeryn, and then widened to add Sam Carter, now has Starbuck, too. Sigh. I think it was the punch. Or the cards. Or the attitude. Siiigh.

Damn.

Apollo isn't bad, Boomer is cute, Tyrol is FAB (I want him to, uh, do lots of yelling at people when they break his Vipers! Yes. As any good crew chief should. Plus, he and Boomer yelling at each other and then having sex? So amusing). And the Pres's advisor who looks like Fifth (omfg, I'm calling him that from now on!) and Dee the communications tech are so fucking cute! I was giggling at them. And awwwww-ing.

I like the President, I even like Adama ('They better start making babies.' killed me dead). I loathe the XO. He's an ass and an idiot, and 'Buck was RIGHT about him.

Although, I suppose he can change.

Baltar is a waste of space. So is the one-dimensional walking breasts. Oh, sorry. She's supposed to be some bad-ass Cylon who is all conflicted and shit. As is he. *cries a river of fake tears* Yeah. My heart bleeds for them both.

I loathe redemption cycles when they're boring. And this one is. I keep hitting mute anytime he's on screen, and going away. If I could, I'd fastforward through them (hey, there's a thought. Tape 'em first, then watch 'em). Of course, I'm *sure* he won't suddenly become a good guy because he is conflicted omfg! until about the second to last episode, where he will have to make a Hard and Terrible decision.

... yeah, feel my boredom building.

I love the Galactica. It's such a mess of conflicted interior design. I think the hangar desk is fantabulous. And the vipers! *pets them* I also love that in space, there is NO gravity! Yay! (and almost no sound. They're nearly getting it right).

*sighs happily* So, I could really get into this series.

They just have to give me lots of Starbuck. And snark.

*craves RepliCarter, who is so much fucking cooler. And sexier. Damn you, Liz*

I loved the silence in the space scenes. That was SO cool. And President Roslin is wonderful. Starbuck is younger and prettier, but OMG Laura Roslin is awesome. And I also noticed one thing -- a bunch of the members of the colonies have extremely Roman-sounding names. What's up with that, I wonder?

*AGREES*

I haven't seen the miniseries since last year, but I fangirled the President liek whoa. Tammy has pointed out that this is possibly somehow related to my huge crush on Dr. Weir...

I also heart Adama *muchly*, and want to hug Boomer all the time even if she could go evil and kill me at any moment oh no! That really did make me shriek "noooooo!" and then "oooooh" and then "no!" again at the end of the miniseries last year... I, like, hopped over the arm of the couch to cling to my roommate and demand that he Make It Not Be So. (I had a fever of at least 102 at the time, so was forgiven this odd action on the grounds of temporary medical insanity)

Er... that's all.

hee. I know I'm late on the whole bandwagon of, "BsG is pretty!" but, er, last year at this time I wasn't even enamored of SG-1, so... Hrm.

Well, *I* am sitting over here feeling guilty that I forgot to rewatch when it aired this week. It really is a wonder that I can remember anything at all from last year.

Heh. I have theories on Baltar and Six, and I very much doubt they're going to "redeem" Baltar.

Which would be nice, I suppose.

Sigh. Another agree to disagree point. I find him boring? Er. Anyway. *offers cookies in distraction*

[identity profile] rosewildeirish.livejournal.com 2005-01-13 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*eats cookie* Yum!

Sure...Old!Baltar was pretty boring. I never understood the "Kill everyone but MEEEE and then I'll RUUUUULLLLLEEEE!!!" types cos, omg, rule what? New!Baltar doesn't bore me because he's actually tons more complex than Old!Baltar.

And then there's my theory...which, if true, interests me greatly, cos, omg, that would be SOMUCH fun to write...

I think you will very much enjoy the series as it progresses. There is plenty of Starbuck to enjoy. If you ever get the chance to meet Katee, you will find that she *is* Starbuck. I mean it! I don't think they could have found anyone so natural for that role.

And to clarify my earlier comment... the fic was giving me scary mental images of someone I've actually worked with (and also crush on). :)

It's just.... when I see cut-tag involving Starbuck... must clicky! Which I really should avoid doing.... :)

I hope so.

And. There shouldn't be a problem, now.

Yay, somebody else thinks Baltar and Six really annoying! He seems to have a lot of fangirls, but I find him boring, and his behavior MAKES NO SENSE. (But that's another rant.) At least it doesn't look like they're going to redeem him anytime soon.

But anyway. The mini-series is shiny enough, and I think the actual series is an improvement. There's even lots of Starbuck snark...
