I could take Jacob calling her 'Sammy' in some sort of highly emotional or painfully humorous situation. Because it's a dad thing, even though Jake is not exactly one for emotional outbursts. God knows my dad has come up with every annoying nickname in the book.

Mark, yeah, maybe for the pissing-off factor. But I think he'd be desperate or something to grab for that.

Sam would kill Jack the very moment the thought began swirling around his neural network.

It makes me twitch. And, maybe, Jacob would call her that. When she's 2.

But after that, I can so see a 3-year-old Samantha.

"My name is Sam." The moppet declared firmly.

"What's that, kiddo?"

"I am not Sammy. I am Sam."

"Uh-huh." Jacob glanced across the dinner table at his wife, "She gets this from you."

An eyebrow went up, and she chuckled, "Are you saying I'm more stubborn than you?"

"Yes."

Yeah, it was only once and the rest of the time it was Sam. I think he was about to tell her bad news, too. She was a bit wary when he called her that, so I think it's safe to say she'd hurt anyone else who called her that.
