Really. Liz is (as always) an evil influence, and thus I downloaded Gemini to watch... And it restored my squee (which has been stomped a lot by the anti-Farscape sentiment I keep seeing along with the "Farscape fans blame SG-1 for getting their show cancelled!" trend, which is sad, since SG-1 is NOT the reason. Crap like Scare Tactics, John Edwards, Ghost Hunters, Proof Positive, etc, are the easy cash cow-money-makers that SciFi canned FS to make. Coupled with the "they should bring back Jonas instead/Ben Browder sucks/etc" line of reasoning... *eyeroll* This is gonna be like the Doctor Who vs Sliders debate, ain't it...)
eta: I have, btw, seen very little "ohmfg, Ben on SG-1 is a bad thing because SG-1 sucks!" But it could simply be that the Farscapers are more polite, or something.
First off. OF COURSE THIS EPISODE WAS SHIPPY, YOU IDIOTS! Peter DeLuise wrote it.
I missed catching the director, but my money's on Martin Wood.
Moving along, WHY isn't Sam more paranoid? Dude, she's been around Jack for 8 years now, you'd think it would rub off (there should be lots of Sam and Jack rubbing on each other).
RepliCarter. Very good at being innocent and vulnerable. Am I the ONLY one who noticed that she didn't kill anyone? Maybe it's not significant. But the thing is, she stalks all over the damn place, she kills Fifth, and... she leaves every human alive. Why?
Sam and Jack at the beginning: very shippy. *smacks Jack* No! Having two Carters does NOT mean you get both! (although, I died there). Sam and Jack at the end: still shippy, with Teal'c being Mr. Amused at the Children. Daniel and Sam at the beginning: "Did Jack say he needed you?" HAHAHAHAHAH! Daniel! You're a bad man! I love that they're going to send some people out to Pegasus. Heeee.
There was snark, but not enough. There was amusement. There was... RC killing Jack in Sam's head to make her sad. *snicker* Guess Fifth did dig deep enough, but DISCOUNTED the Jack Factor when building his VR in New Order.
hrm. I still wanna kinda write fic. Maybe something sappy....
All in all? Decent ep. *pets Sam*
HAH! Jacob now hasthree two daughters! ... dude. The Tok'ra should meet the replicators.

But a lot of them do. Including two people on my friends list, who happily admit that they blame SG-1, among other things.
Coupled with the "they should bring back Jonas instead/Ben Browder sucks/etc" line of reasoning... *eyeroll*
*thinks they should bring back Jonas though*
I don't know, I honestly think I have a right to be upset. I want Jonas back, a character we already know and love and who fits SG-1, not a new guy on SG-1 who looks exactly like Michael Shanks and whom people only want 'cause they know him from Farscape and think he's hot.

Which I really don't get. SG-1 was already playing on SF, after Farscape. They didn't just look at the budget and go, "We're gonna give this show more money" (if they did, why were the production values the same between 6/7?). They looked at it and said, "We don't like this show anyway, we don't get it. But there's all this Reality TV crap that *might* fit our programming, and we can make ten of them as opposed to one of these. Let's cancel it!"
I think Jonas should come back, too. But I have no clue if the actor is free, willing, or if there's a ton of politics involved in the situation. And I honestly don't think it would happen. They've pretty much acted like they've closed the book on Jonas (leaving him hair-gel-less. *sad*)
whom people only want 'cause they know him from Farscape and think he's hot.
The hotness? Eh, yeah, that's part of the appeal.
But Ben is also a DAMN fine actor, he's a writer, and I don't see how new blood is a bad thing. (excuse me while my brain melts at the thought of Ben and Chris writing an episode together... REmember The Changeling? That's the kind of stuff Ben writes. Together? It would kill our brains, but it would be good.) Erm. Anyway. *scruffles*
Write me Lizzie sexing Daniel! *runs* ;)

Yah. I dunno. People are strange?
They've pretty much acted like they've closed the book on Jonas (leaving him hair-gel-less. *sad*)
Yes. CAUSE THEY SUCK. =( Maybe he stole some gel... Sheppard has gel, so he can, too!
I don't see how new blood is a bad thing.
No, I don't have anything against Ben. I haven't seen him in action, and I wish him luck. I'm just mad at the whole double standard thing- people were all OMFG Daniel's leaving! And no one's, Wait, RDA's gone, and Jonas ain't ever coming back. *clings to Jonas* *lovesloves Jonas*
REmember The Changeling? That's the kind of stuff Ben writes.
Chris/Ben OTP?
*scruffles*
*is scruffled*
Write me Lizzie sexing Daniel! *runs* ;)
Lizzie TOTALLY sexed Daniel.
...
Blond or brunette?

*pets Jonas* Part of the RDA thing, for me, is that it's very obvious he is TIRED of the role. Besides, if he goes, then we can have Sam go fishing a lot....
Chris/Ben OTP?
*snicker* Their brains...

And SciFi did say that about Farscape and SG-1. Do I think that was the only factors? Hell, no!

And, yeah, it was VERY expensive to produce. They were doing movie-level production values every week.

But so pretty! And so worth it. OMFG, I miss it. I want my crazy, Golden Retriever John back!

Suffice it to say, at the time of Farscape's cancellation, I was neither a Farscape fan nor an SG-1 fan. So I wasn't on fansites, and thus, missed the fanwankage, apparently. (I still say this reminds me of the Sliders vs Doctor Who rants circa 1997...)
*scritches*

I've been a Farscape fan since sometime in season 1, when I realized that Ben Browder played John like a human equivalent of a Golden Retriever, complete with total befuzzlement. He came across to me like someone who's just been whacked upside the head with a two-by-four and just can't figure out, for the life of him, why. For some reason, that appeals to me (makes me laugh, which should worry me).
THEN Season 2 picked up the pace and started punching home with PLOT, omg! And they started doing things they'd never get away with on the big four. And they made John kinda dark, in a way, but also very real. I don't think Ben Browder has ever been given a role like that, and it just might be the once-in-a-lifetime shot. He acted the hell out of it and omg, I love it.
Sliders vs. Dr. Who? *blinks* Sliders was a series with such potential, all untapped. *sniffle*
*enjoys scritch*

After the TV movie for DW bombed, well... They made Sliders.

I was never a Dr. Who fan. Plenty of people I knew were or are, but I just never...got into it. Plus it's got more history than most TV shows.
But I tried to pick up on the TV movie. (What IS it with him regenerating younger each time? Next time, he'll be a toddler! Heh.) I figured since Spielberg picked up the U.S. rights, it couldn't suck, could it?
OMG, it so could.
Even with the lack of goodness that was much of Sliders, it was better than perpetuating that dreck.

*doesn't touch the age of the Docs, 'cause she doesn't remember it, and she already HAS 25 years of canon continuity crammed into her brain*
(which would be why I snigger anytime someone says Star Trek is the longest-running SF show/spinoff/thingamabob)
Yes. Sadly, the TV movie wasn't... very good. The actors tried, really, but the plot? Could've been SO much better....
And, uh, I've watched bits and pieces of Sliders. It wasn't exactly all that great either.

Oh, no doubt. Like I said, I felt it was best known for its utterly wasted potential.
Best scene was a throwaway at the end of an episode. Gaaaah.
But! It did have Jerry O'Connell (Conner? I'm bad about that), and it did apparently decide that the ratings went up whenever he took his shirt off. It was amusing seeing how many ways they came up with to try and justify it.

The only reason any of us force ourselves to watch Crossing Jordan is that there was an episode without Jordan, once. And it was actually good. And Jerry O'Connell TOOK HIS SHIRT OFF. For the record, we all stopped talking and zeroed in on the screen....
...we're so shallow. ;)
