The show is very good, but it's one of those shows that you have to watch earlier episodes to know what's going on. Or get someone to tell you what has happened so far.

Sounds like half the series I watch. Seriously. Try explaining the plot of Inuyasha to someone who comes in halfway through the series and has never seen a single episode.

Hrm...I think I have enough stuff to obsess over at the moment, so no Lost for me.

However, my friend Valeah makes the most GOREGOUS Lost icons. I enjoy the show for the sole reason that it creates lovely art from her. However...she needs to be making STARGATE icons, omfg! Not wasting energies on that silly show! :angsts:

Have you watched it from the beginning? If not, it won't make much sense. JJ writes the types of shows that you have to watch previous episodes to know what's going on.

People told me that about Farscape, too. And, funny, I never had a problem wrapping my head around it.

Eh. I suppose it's a personal preference thing.

It's a weird show to begin with and a LOT of weird stuff is happening to the people on the island. Even I'm confused most of the time. And if you're not familiar with JJ's story telling techniques, it's hard. The man loves to jump around in time when telling a story. The episodes are generally part what's happening now and part one of the character's backstory.

And by weird stuff I mean...

They shot a polar bear. Yes, a polar bear on a tropical island. Still hasn't been explained.

The bald dude...he was paralyzed and in a wheelchair until they crashed on the island.

Kate - she was arrested and being brought back to the US by a Federal Marshall. Don't know what for exactly.

Jack - Well he was escorting his father's casket back to the US and then saw his father walking around and found the empty casket.

Oh, and there's something out there in the jungle which has killed a person or two...which we haven't seen yet.

See what I mean by weird?

It really is one of those shows you have to watch to know what's going on.

I got bits of that, actually. It just... I didn't feel any need to really watch, or ever watch it again.

Is that stufdf supposed to make it good? Because I think Andromeda has better plots...

Ash and I have been downloading the torrents from the beginning. It's actually a very good show.... especially if you like mindfuck television. The way I see it, though, you don't jump into sex in the middle... you really need to start with the foreplay and work your way to the climax... :)

*headshake* I stand by my own assessment, regardless of "this must be watched from the beginning". It bored me, it didn't even make me spend much time mocking it (I spend more time yelling at Beka's hair/clothes/makeup than I did investing any interest in Lost, because it didn't grip me in any way shape or form).

I don't think it's particularly good television -- the only shows I'd actually place that label on are Dead Like Me, Twitch City, Power Play, and (sometimes) CSI, two of which aren't even on the air anymore.

I think Lost has potential; some terribly annoying characters, some cliches, but still some potential -- but JJ's been known to fuck things up before.

Of course... I've never understood why someone would watch Stargate, myself.

Does that mean that you're not allowed to be my friend anymore?
