Am I the only one who assumes the two of them routinely masturbate to thoughts of each other or half a dozen people? And that, in reality, they'd only be embarrassed if, say, they were CAUGHT?

I think it's a wee bit difficult to seperate Real!Person vs. Fantasy!Person and some twitching and blushing is sometimes in order - but not to the point of insanity, I guess?

Well... Sam is odd. And more repressed than your average bird. And *I* have felt weird about people for a few days after I have some vivid dream about them, and I am considerably *less* close to Falling Off The Cliff Of Righteousness in regards to them.

Eh. I go back and forth. In my head, Sam has made some sort of Deal With Herself after failing to *not* have dirty evil thoughts that it's all right to have them between certain hours of night in certain places in certain conditions (she's Sam, remember? Gotta love those parameters). But it's also possible that she is SO wrapped up in this that it freaks her out that her subconscious or sexual fantasies keeps "betraying" her tidy conscious attempts to not be involved in this.

Your Sam is quite a bit less repressed than mine, though, so it really might not track for you. Plus, a high percentage of ff.net fics on *any* subject will have unnaturally exaggerated the emotional and insane ways adult humans behave.

Deals. *nods* This make Sam Logic sense (not to be confused with Dom Logic, although it resembles it in some cases). She can fantasize about sex with Jack on even-dated Wednesdays, as long as she is home in bed, there isn't a mission the next day, and she knows she won't see him until sometime after lunch. And even then, it must happen about 2 a.m.

And, yeah. My Sam is much less repressed, even when she isn't allowed to have sex with Jack. (mainly because other people write repressed!Sam so well, so I stick to other things. *g*)

Well, I have to admit that I have one of those ff.net-style bunnies that just won't die about Some Weird Sci-Fi Or Psychological Thing that unhinges character A enough to have them start having insanely vivid dreams (involving character B, natch) and start confusing them with reality... yeah. That started as a Doggett/Reyes bunny like two years ago and I tried to rewrite it as Daniel/Janet and then it keeps attacking me in thinly veiled disguise for all the other characters. Despite the fact that I am SURE I could read that exact fic in varying degrees of quality, like, eighteen times elsewhere. *sigh*

I think there would be some momentary embarrassment - Sam might babble a bit when she first ran into the object of the dream interlude, Jack might overdo the snark, but then it would be over and something to laugh about years later.

But yeah, the "OMG unable to function and OMG avoiding the other person" cliche just makes me roll my eyes and usually hit delete.

And thinking about it more, I actually wonder if in the series present, there might not be much reaction at all. I mean, look at how they all interact S7/S8. There's a level of comfort that might make any embarrassment so small that it wouldn't even be remarkable. Heck, I might even be able to believe see Sam telling Daniel if she dreamed about him, and the two of them getting a laugh out of it.

I can easily see this if they've been imbibing a tad. Seriously funny. And if Jack were to overhear, it could get even funnier.

But I can also see this happening in one of those instances where, say Sam doesn't remember her dream until something Danny does causes a "flashback" (which is often how I remember dreams, since I don't always remember them when I wake up).
