whispered slowly to me

Finally got around to watching the Stargate movie. It was... interesting, to see what they had, and what they changed to do the series. There were definitely moments of the nascent Jack and Daniel Show. But, sadly, no "Jack." "Daniel." "Jack." "Daniel!" I totally hated French Stewart as Feretti. I'm so fucking glad they replaced him (and Kawalsky was FAR better in the show).

I apologize to all Kurt Russell fans, but his portrayal of O'Neil was very... dull. (and it could have been so much more... amusing. strange. dramatic. good, even. sigh)

If the man showed any emotion, I never saw it (and his fight with the jaffa was pathetic. On *both* their sides).

Also, guys? When the unconscious woman wakes up staring directly at a headless body? This is a SCARRING THING. Don't leave her lying there... Idiots. (yes. There was time to move her, they just... didn't... Perhaps this is why no one thought there was anything wrong with leaving Sam cradling Martouf at the end of D&C -- or John on Command staring at, uh, the bot thingie...)

Sigh.

Emotional traumas. Bah.

Anyway. I apparently saw the director's cut. If there were added scenes, I'd like to know where? From what I saw, there really wasn't much you COULD have cut!

Daniel's coffee addiction was amusing to see. ;)

Loved the control room stuff, for some reason (no Chevron Guy. I was saddened).

I feel like watching Torment of Tantalus again. Hrm.

And while I felt the lack of Sam (and people I wanted to pay attention to--although Skaara and Sha're totally had me going "Awwww!!!"), sigh. No Sam. The movie wouldn't have been better (no RDA!Jack, either). But I could have leered.

(no Chevron Guy. I was saddened)

I watched Children of the Gods with my not-yet-addicted sister yesterday and totally flailed when I saw he was in it.

No Sam. The movie wouldn't have been better

You know, there's a random blonde chick in the control room pushing buttons that my roommate and I decided could be Sam. And if you thought that was the geekiest we could sink to in that evening, the answer is NO, because I then freaked the heck out about how Daniel said Abydonian was like Berber and how it is not *at all* like Berber. I think the weirdest part - wait, a lot of the move was weird - was seeing the non-military people, people who we never, ever see or hear from again, in the control room. What happened to all those people, huh? Huh?

I just now declared to my son, as we are watching it just now too (so freaky) that I have decided to think of the movie as if it's a movie in the reality of the show. I mean, as if they made a movie based on "our" Jack and Daniel and their early adventures. And SG-1 would go see that movie and make fun of Kurt Russell, see. And laugh at how similar James Spader is to the real Daniel.

(My son's not seen it before and has the value-add experience of me sitting there going "and so in the reality of the show Sam is in Washington, right, so she's not there, right" the whole time. I think he wants me to shut up. Except, he keeps saying quite similar things himself. "O'Neil, one L. No sense of humour.")

There's a director's cut?

...so, it's like Wormhole EXtreme! got turned into a movie?

Sweet.

Heheheheh. Spader is very close to our Daniel. But our Daniel is snarkier. Thank god.

There's a director's cut?

Yeah. With... ten minutes or less of footage that really doesn't seem to have added much (or taken much away...)

I watched it recently, too. Let me make this clear: I'm a huge Kurt Russell fan, and I also felt he showed no emotion. (Which I think was bad direction, not any fault on Kurt's part.)

I actually ADORED French Stewart as Ferretti. I agree, though, I like the TV show's Kowalski better. (Kowalski! Oh, how I miss thee!) I like the TV show's Catherine more, though. (Wish she'd appeared in more episodes.)

If you look at IMDB, it explains what the added scenes are, IIRC.

So, which Sha're (or Sha'uri, if you want to go by the movie spelling) do you like better?

Heh. I definitely liked the show Catherine more, too (and agree. I'd love to see her again). I think that movieSha're (either spelling) is similar to tvSha're. Can't really choose one over the other (she and Daniel are all sweet, dude)

*goes to imdb*

Wait wait wait.

Movie Sha'uri is HOT.
TV Sha're is annoyingly UGLY.

heh. I just... can't really distinguish the two. It wasn't like with Feretti and Kawalskywhosenamewillneverbespelledcorrectlyinmyhead. And Jack, of course.
