Hanging out in Camden...

I swear, this was supposed to go *happy* places. Really. This was... Not supposed to do this. I fully blame my recent obsession with SG-1, and also add that my playlist is out to frelling get me.

Set before Dog With Two Bones, but after, um, the Scorpy on the stairs waterfall scene (*pause to just ADMIRE the hell out of that beautiful cinematography*)

Broken Mirror

They stand on the command of Moya and watch from a distance as the command carrier folds in on itself. She wants to call it an explosion. But that's the wrong terminology, because it's imploding, not exploding. Pieces are simply disappearing into folded bits of space. And it's wrong.

Escape pods have all been shot out of the rings, only a few making their way here, to Moya. And those people have seemed pathetically grateful for their lives and already are being shuttled into pods to be sent to other worlds.

But the massiveness of the command carrier takes it that much longer to slowly disappear, and she stands there and watches. Feeling as if a part of her is being folded, spindled, mutilated.

And that's something she's gotten from *him*. Something he made her feel, or understand.

Something she doesn't want to feel, because emotions, feelings, hurt. They make her say and do things she shouldn't. And then she runs to hide from it all.

But she can't hide from this, because to do so would be to say that Talyn, Crais... Maybe they do mean nothing to her. To them. To him. Except he's not here to see this, to stand at her side and catch her fingers with his and give her that smile. The one that says he knows what she's thinking, but isn't going to interrupt.

If he's not here, neither is the other. And, that sounds wrong, feels wrong. Both of them or neither of them. None of the above and everything in-between.

Someone should have told her that having emotions would make it hurt like this.

"Aeryn?"

Chiana's voice is hesitant, as is the hand that touches her arm. She glances sideways to look at the girl and waits.

"You... You gonna be all right?"

No.

The dark eyes close for a second, then open, and Chiana steps closer, slides an arm around her waist. "I--I'm glad. You're back." She stops, as if surprised by her statement, then stands on tip-toe and kisses Aeryn's cheek gently. "I'm sorry."

She's gone an instant later, as if her own emotions make her frightened.

Or maybe she just doesn't want to see Aeryn cry.

Not that she is.

Although the tear sliding down her cheek points out the lie.
