I have a question, mainly because it's been way too long.. but. Anyway, when did Carter start doing drugs? I know it was after Lucy died, but I'm not clear on the time frame. Was he back at work by then, or not?
Let me think. Season 6. Lucy died during the February sweeps, in All in the Family, and subsequently had trouble with his back (as he was stabbed in the back), so he was taking meds for that and. He just didn't stop (and started using more and different drugs). He came back to work, like, two episodes later in Under Control. His behaviour became increasingly erratic as the season went on. In the second to last episode, Such Sweet Sorrow, Carter was all OVER the place. And then the culmination, in the best er episode ever, May Day.
