Ahh, comics...

So finally had the time and money to go comics-shopping.

The haul included:
Captain Marvel 16-18 (I've been neglecting Marv. Poor boy.): Poor poor Rick.
Ruse 25: Eh.
Route 666 18: Heh. Heh. Heh.
and, Hawkeye 3: haven't read it, as I need 2, first.

Captain Marvel. Ah, Marv. I knew I liked this book, when I picked up #15, and it mentioned Marv and Rick trying to convince earlier versions of themselves to suicide. I knew I liked it even more, when 15 ended with a lovely cliff-hanger. Unfortunately, moving and then having no money made a long wait for the next book. Three issues of Marv in a row is like mainlining Quentin Tarantino's first three films whilst watching Monty Python's Life of Brian. It's fab, it's frelling amusing, and it's got some of the snappiest dialogue. Heh. Although. Dude? I did not need to see the Motel 6 on Krypton. Or such an expanse of Rick's crotch. However. Put aside your doubts, down a lot of sugar, and read this book. And then pray your brain comes crawling back to you. ;)

Ruse. Wow. Um. Scott Beatty? Sucks. A lot. Maybe if he hadn't, y'know, filled the ENTIRE COMIC WITH SOMETHING THAT WASN'T THE ACTUAL CHARACTERS... *pause* This is (iirc) the LAST issue of this comic. There are TWO PAGES that actually have the correct Simon and Emma on them. TWO. Out of 18? Good gods, does Scott Beatty need to be beaten with padded baseball bats. Then dropped off a bridge. I can't even comment on the story, because it was so flonqing AWFUL until the last two pages that I was wondering if I could take it back and wait until it's a dollar... *cries* Mark Waid, come back to us!

Route 666. Heh. Heh. Dude. If my brain weren't already screwed by various episodes of certain programs last night, this would have gotten me screwed. And then Marv on top of that? Would have had me sitting in a corner, drooling. But I'm not. Because I watched various people break last night, so my brain is already curled in a corner, sobbing to itself. That said, this was a lovely little issue, with some fun characterisation, and a zombie army. Heheheheh. And the end... Dude. It's worth it if only for the end... HEHEHeheheheheheh...

I also picked up various back issues of Ruse for a buck a piece, and now I nearly have a full run. Even with the awful ones... Er. Anyway. It's a fun book.

And the store clerk? Says they'll have quarter bins soon.

I am SO frelled.
