I'm trying to be coherent, so this is taking time. I suspect it's because my head is full of Red Cap. Jo and Roper and Burnsy.
Maddie. A redhead who was only in the mini. Pity, really. I like her better than Neve. Although, Maddie? Wouldn't have said the line from ep1 that I adore so much.
"Hey! No groping senior NCOs!"
Watch me laugh maniacally.
Because we all know Jo would rather swallow lava than grope Hippy. And Neve just wants him to herself. Pity her one pass at him apparently ended badly.
I've been thinking of Red Cap as a damn fine show ever since I started watching it. Having seen the original miniseries (2-hour movie?) that started it, I say it's even better than I'd thought.
The interactions, and the personality clashes, and, and... My GOD. The whole Sam Perkins thing is so fucking skewed now.
I thought it was, here, on this level of "boyfriend". Now it's at a whole new level. A much lower, sneaky/crueler one.
And thank god for Hornsby. I knew I liked that man.
The pain was nice and real, too. I loved the way this was filmed. I love the way McDonagh is. There's one moment, when Roper says something to her, and it's like she's suddenly run into a wall--*bam* end of her being happy. Bad Hippy.
But it ended well. And now I get Burns' "Happy?" jibe at Roper...
Plus, it was just damned fine.
In other, non-Red Cap news, my back hurts.
Picked up a 'dramatisation' of The Hobbit from the library. All of the characters have squeaky voices. Except Thorin who is, for some reason, Brian Blessed. (sounds like him, anyway). So far, the most amusing thing has been the Eagles. They sound like Daleks.
"I am Davros, the Lord of the Eagles! I bid you welcome, Gandalf and Brian Blessed!"
There's some nice cute bits with the narration. But Gollum utterly irritated me. And I'm not fond of the cutesy faux-folk music being used.
And the songs are scary.
But it's useful to listen to in the car.
Have put the Pogues on hold at the library. Must see if they actually appear.
Damnit. And now every song I hear is either a Jo song, a Roper song, or a Jo/Roper song.
Why is there no Red Cap fanfiction? I feel this is a large gaping hole...
Speaking of. Jo? Chick with a gun. She's blonde, which is different. But she's still a hard ass. And she likes guns. Mrrooow.
And I'm back on Red Cap. Oh well. It is filling my brain, after all.
